The anime and manga of the first season share a lot of similarities but have a lot of differences. In the anime the silver crystal had been broken into seven pieces and located in seven individuals. The pieces were brought back together and formed the silver crystal. In the manga none of that happens. The silver crystal in the manga was inside of Usagi and came out of her tears.

The appearances of the Inner Senshi go in the same order. Instead of getting their henshin pens from Luna, they get them as prizes from the Sailor V video game. When Makoto/Sailorjupiter first appears she fights against a ghost bride instead of Zoicite.

In the manga Kunzite and Zoicite are not lovers. The generals of the Dark Kingdom were actually Prince Endymion's guardians who were brainwashed by Metallia. The generals die differently in the manga. Jadeite is killed by Sailormars, Nephrite is killed by Sailorjupiter. Queen Beryl is killed by Sailorvenus.

In the anime the senshi meet Queen Serenity after Kunzite has thrown them into time. In the manga the senshi travel to the moon. They find the Sword of the Moon and meet the spirit of Queen Selenity. She tells them that Princess Selenity committed suicide after Endymion was killed.

Queen Metallia is defeated by Princess Selenity and Prince Endymion. The Silver Millennium is restored. The senshi do not lose their memories like in the manga.
