How to FTP

Maybe you've bought a domain or moved to a private server. You have to FTP your files and you're like what is that?! Well this is a tutorial on how to FTP, which stands for file transfer protocol

Downloading the Files

In case you don't have the files in a folder on your computer or on a disk you'll need to download them from your server. Open up your FTP program and hit connection. Type in the address which will be ftp.yourserver.com (EX. ftp.geocities.com) You'll be asked to enter your user name and password which is just your name at the server. On the right side of the screen you'll see your files. On the left side of the screen you'll see your computer files (EX: My Documents) Click on the files and hit download. This will download them into your folder.

Uploading the Files

Open up your FTP program. In the left side of the screeen go to the folder where your files that you are going to upload are located. Go to connection and type in the address ftp.yourserver.com. Enter your name and password. Then go to the files on the left, click on them and hit upload.
