"Love ALWAYS prevail!" /*****/////*****/////*****/////*****/////*****/////*****/////*****/ It was a quiet night. The moon was shining brightly and the stars seem to dance in the night lit sky. The leaves of the trees that dotted Tokyo Central Park, rustled as the wind blew gently by. The lamps that were scattered allover the park flickered on. One lamp illuminated a couple that stood under a tree, locked in a passionate kiss. When they parted the girl blushed and looked into the guy's midnight blue eyes. "Mamo-chan," the girl said giggling, "what was that for?" she asked hugging the guy. "Well, I have something to ask you Usako." Mamoru said smiling at the girl in his arms. A gentle wind blew a strand of her golden hair onto her face. He brushed the wayward lock away. Usagi looked at him, curiosity written all over her lovely features. "What is it, Mamo-chan?" she asked. Instead of answering her, Mamoru took one of his hands from Usagi's waist, and reached into his pants' pocket. From there he withdrew a small box tied with a red ribbon. Silently, he gave it to Usagi, who in turn took it from him. Her baby blue eyes looking at his questioningly. "What is this, Mamo-chan?" She asked him again. Though inside she had a feeling what it MIGHT just be. "Open it and I'm sure you'll understand." Mamoru said quietly as he held her again. Usagi leaned slightly away from him. Tentatively, she untied the ribbon and carefully opened the box. What she saw inside made her gasp, her eyes widening with disbelief. For nestled in the box's velvet interior was a gold ring with a diamond shaped-like a heart with tiny pink pearls surrounding it. "Mamo-chan..." Usagi whispered looking at the beautiful ring in awe. "Its beautiful!" she exclaimed, as she gingerly lifted the ring from its velvet nest and held it in her hand. "Do you like it?" Mamoru asked, as he took the now empty box from her and placed it in his pocket again. "Like it? I positively love it!" Usagi exclaimed, kissing him quickly on the lips, then looked back at the beautiful ring she was still holding. Taking a deep breath, Mamoru took his arms from around Usagi, and closed his hands over the ring and Usagi's hand. Usagi looked at him expectantly.Mamoru cleared his throat and looked at straight into Usagi's eyes. "Aishiteru, Usagi Tsukino. Would you do me the honor of becoming my wife?" Mamoru asked huskily, waiting tensly for her answer, afraid that she might refuse. Usagi looked at him with love shining brightly in her eyes.He saw the answer in her eyes even before she uttered the sweet answer. "Yes, Mamo-chan, a thousand times YES!!" Usagi said, happiness and love she couldn't contain can be heard in her voice. She flung her arms about Mamoru's neck and hugged him tight. Mamoru laughed, returning her hug equally tight, he felt as if a big boulder was just lifted off him when his sweet little Usako uttered the words he had wanted to hear. When they pulled apart Mamoru took the ring from Usagi and placed it on the third finger of her lefthand, where it sat proudly. "Usako, you have just made me the happiest man on Earth!" Mamoru said as he held her. "No, Mamo-chan," Usagi said, giggling softly at Mamoru's puzzled frown. As she lifted her left hand to touch his face, the diamond caught the light from the lamp and sparkled. "YOU have made ME the happiest woman on Earth." /**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/ Usagi woke up to a beautiful Monday morning. Thinking of what happened the night before, washed a wonderful feeling in her. She looked at her lefthand where the ring was, to make sure what had happened was not a dream. True enough that when she looked, the diamond winked at her as it caught the sun's rays. Smiling Usagi got up and went to dress for school. Ever since Usagi graduated from Juuban High School, her punctuality at Tokyo State University was impeccable. Never again was she late for a class or even a senshi meeting. Even Luna commented on this and said she could not believe Usagi was this responsible now. Even her grades were straight A's, When Ami heard this one she fainted. Usagi bounded down the stairs her long blonde hair tied in the usual odangos flowing behind her. Her pink day dress slapped softly against her legs when she walked with her pink sandles on her feet. "Good morning mom!" She called when she entered the kitchen. She ploppeddown on her usual seat on the table. Mrs. Tsukino smiled as she assembled Usagi's breakfast on a plate. "Good morning dear" she said as she placed the plate in front of Usagi and kissed the top of her daughter's head, right between the odangos. Mrs. Tsukino turned and went to do the other things. Usagi ate her breakfast in record time. (*her appetite didn't deminish through the years though.*) drank some juice and went to her mom. "Mom, me and Mamoru are going out this evening. But I'll be back to change some clothes late, okey?" She said as she kissed her mom's cheek. "Okey." Mrs. Tsukino said as she collected the dirty plate. "Okey mom Bye!" Usagi called as she waved goodbye. The diamond on her ring caught some morning light that it sparkled. Mrs. Tsukino saw that and wondered about it, but before she could say a word, Usagi was out of the door. The car that Usagi was driving, was given to her by her parents on her eighteenth birthday. She was absolutely estatic when her dad presented her the keys. Usagi parked her car on the available slot that were reserved for the students at the university's huge parking lot. She hopped out, collected her books and locked the doors of her car. Dropping the keys into her bag she turned and joined the other hurrying students into the school another day had started for Usagi. /**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/ Light was streaming down from the thin spaces in between blinds, onto the ruffled hair of Mamoru Chiba who had just woken up from the best sleep he had since those nightmares which led to some awful heartbreaks in the past few weeks. He opened the blinds and looked out onto the clear sky. He smiled as he thought about what had happened the night before. He can't wait to see his Usako again. After what happened last night, he doubted that he'd jeopordize their relationship again. If anything should happen to his Usako he sure will want death rather than to live without her. His smile deepened, at he thought about Usagi's reaction. Who would have thought that a nineteen year old girl would accept a proposal of marriage from a twenty-three year old guy like him? His Usako really brought so much happiness into his miserable and lonely life. How could he have had survive all those years of loneliness was beyond him. But now that his Usako was here, who made him smile and gave meaning to his life. He could now have something to look forward to. And he knows that he would do ANYTHING to make sure she is safe. Mamoru stopped daydreaming when he saw the time on the clock beside his bed. He got up and did his morning routine. Eager to start work early so that he could get out early to take Usako out to dinner. An hour later, (*yeah I know it was alittle bit too long for a guy to get dressed!*) wearing a white long sleeved turtle neck and dark grey pants with matching dress shoes. He was off to work. After a few minutes he reached Tokyo General Hospital. He got of and headed straight to the doctor's locker room and put on his white over coat and pinned his name plate on. He timed in and went to the nurse's station to get his charts. A nurse was presently on duty and smiled at him when he approached the desk. "Hello Dr. Chiba.these are your patients for the day and Dr. Kenjino asked if you could check his patient at room 603." she said as she handed the charts to Mamoru. "Thanks Kesuna I will." Mamoru said and went to the elevators with the charts clutched in his hand. He approached the bank of elevators located on the left side of the nurse's station and pushed the button going up. when the elevator came he got in and pushed the button to the six floor as the door closed Mamoru smiled slightly. It was another day for him at Tokyo Gen. /**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/ Mamoru arrived at Usagi's house on time. When he was about to get out of the car, he noticed that he hadn't brought any flowers. Quickly he looked around, seeing no one he pulled out three beautiful roses. after that accomplished, he got out of the car, locked it and went to the front stoop. when he reached it, he suddenly remembered that he had nothing for Usagi's mother. Looking quickly around again he pulled out half a dozen roses.Smiling to himself, that's one of the great things of being Tuxedo Kamen, he had an endless number of roses in him. He rang the doorbell, it was opened by Mrs. Tsukino. He held out the half a dozen roses. "Good evening ma'am," Mamoru said Taking the roses Ikoku Tsukino smiled at him. "Why, thank you Mamoru How sweet of you! come on in Usagi will be down in a minute." She said, as she led him into the house after closing the door. She left him to place the roses in a vase. After a few minutes, Usagi came into view. Mamoru smiled, wearing a white dress with spagetti straps that flowed around her while she was walked and white sandals, Usagi looked like the innocent she is. Mamoru stepped closer to her, kissed her on her cheek and whispered "you look beautiful" Usagi blushed at this. Mamoru gave her the three roses. She accepted it. They were starting to leave when Mamoru turned to Usagi and whispered something. Usagi squealed and hugged him. "Mom! could you call dad and shingo in here?" Usagi called "Sure, coming dear" After a few minutes, the Tsukino family assembled at the living room. Usagi and Mamoru stood side by side before them. Upon seeing this Kenjo Tsukino almost bounded out of his chair and lunged at Mamoru, if it hadn't been for Mrs. Tsukino's restraining hand not visible to the couple. Mamoru took hold of Usagi's hand and squeezed it lightly. He cleared his throat as he looked at Usagi's family. "Mr. and Mrs. Tsukino, Shingo, I have asked Usagi to marry me and she has accepted." Mamoru said, as Shingo and Usagi's mother smiled at the news, her father frowned. "Are you sure daughter, that you want to marry him?" Mr. Tsukino asked. Usagi smiled knowing her father's reluctance at accepting this. Ever since she and Mamoru were dating, her father was never that thrilled to know that she was dating a guy older than she. He would sometimes threaten Mamoru that if he will not keep his daughter safe he'll pay the consequences. If her father knew that she had died already and that she was Sailormoon,it will undoubtedly anger her father. Looking at her father now, Usagicouldn't help but smile, what her father didn't know is that Mamoru is as protective as he is when it comes to Usagi's well being. "Yes, Dad I do, I love him and that all that matters to me." Usagi said as she glanced at Mamoru. "Please sir we ask for your blessing." Mamoru said as he bowed before Usagi's father. Usagi placed a hand on Mamoru's shoulder, and looked at her father. Kenjo, really getting impressed with Mamoru, thought to himself, ~Maybe I'll give the kid a chance.~ He looked at the young man his daughter had chosen to be her husband, he would not deny that he had opposed the relationship bloosoming between his daughter and Mamoru Chiba. But at what he is seeing now, Kenjo can't help but think that maybe, just maybe his daughter has done the right choice in choosing her husband. Smiling at Mamoru's tense shoulder, Kenjo Tsukino got up from the couch and approached him, he placed a hand on Mamoru's other shoulder. "Of course but you have to promise me one thing," Kenjo said grinning at Mamoru's shocked face as Mamoru looked at him. "Anything sir," Mamoru said as he straightened. "Take good care of her." Kenjo said simply. "That sir," Mamoru said smiling, as he placed an arm around HIS Usako, "Is one thing that I'd do for you with pleasure." "Oh and one more thing," Kenjo said before he left them. "What's that sir?" Mamoru asked curiously. Kenjo smile widened as he started to lead his dumbfounded wife away, he looked at the couple before him and his eyes warmed. "Don't call me sir any more Mamoru," Kenjo said saying Mamoru's name for the first time. Mamoru looked at him questioningly. "What should I call you sir?"Mamoru asked. Kenjo looked at him and said. "Call me Dad." /**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/ A breeze caught Usagi's hair as she and her Mamo-chan walked around Tokyo National Park. They had just finished dinner and Mamoru suggested that they walked for a while. The night was young and other couples were also around the park sitting on benches or on the grass just cuddling and giggling like lovers should be. Usagi breathe in the fresh air and smiled. She could still remember the look on Mamoru's face when her father asked him to call him dad. She thought that Mamoru would faint then and there. Who would have thought that the great Tuxedo Kamen would faint at the simple request of calling her father dad. She giggled just thinking about it. Very sensitive of her mood Mamoru looked over at Usagi. "Penny for your thoughts Usako." he said. Usagi stuck out her tongue at him. "Nope not fair. YOU always know what I think about so keep your pennies to yourself." "So what are you thinking about?" Mamoru asked grinning. "Oh just the look on your face when my dad asked you to call him dad." Usagi smiled. "it was funny." Mamoru smiled, "Yeah I know, but think about it Usako, I've never had the satisfaction of calling anyone dad before." He said as he stopped by their usual bench which was over looking the Tokyo Bay. Usagi sat down and nodded understanding what he means. For most of his Life Mamoru never had anyone, except for that one faithful day when Usagi bumped or should we say threw him that test paper, from then on Mamoru promised himself that he would do anything just so to protect his little rabbit. "Just being asked by your father to do so was a dream come true." Mamoru said as he gazed out into the night. Usagi looked at him, she knew how it was for him when he had no one to turn too. It broke her heart that day when Mamoru admitted it to her. From then on Usagi promised to herself that she would always be there for him. Always. "Mamo-chan," Usagi said softly. Mamoru turned to her and tilted his head to the side, "What is it, Usako?" he asked. He looked so cute, when he tilted his head that way. The wind blew a strand of his dark hair into his face, which gave him a rather boyish look, adding much to his appeal. "I just wanted to say that I love you." she said, as she stood up and walked toward him. "and that I'll always be there for you." She hugged him tightly and so did he. "You know," Mamoru said as he loosened his grip a liitle and looked at Usagi's face. "I have always dreamed of this happening a few times, now that its finally happened I sometimes think that I must have been dreaming all this." "If you're dreaming all this," Usagi said, as she leaned against Mamoru's chest, "then I'm happy dreaming it with you." /**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/ Up on a tall building a shadowy figure saw this touching scene. Its eyes flashed with hatred as it saw the pure love that flowed between the two. Never had it seen a love so pure that it was almost blinding to see. Thoughts of evil flowed into its mind. It could never allow such feelings to be felt in this world. Such feelings should never exist here. This world doesn't merit such beautiful feeling to be felt. As it observed the couple a few minutes more. It knew that it had to do something to break this and make sure that LOVE can't be felt here ever again. /**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/ Usagi ran to her next class the next morning. Her professor on American Literature had forgotten about the time, resulting to an over lap of schedule. She slid into her sit just in the nick of time. "Miss Tsukino?" Mr. Tannaka called. "Present!!" Usagi answered. (~That was close.~) she thought. She opened her notebook, and a note fell out. Frowning, she didn't notice it before. She opened it and her eyes widened. Love is NOT always what it SEEMS. Be careful of the one you LOVE. ~What does this mean?~ She wondered. It was a weird note, it was even typed so she had no way of knowing who gave it to her. She was so spaced out that Mr. Tannaka had to call her twice. "Miss Tsukino!" Mr. Tannaka hollered. Breaking out of her thoughts Usagi looked at her concerned professor. "Are you alright Miss Tsukino?" He asked. He knew that this bright student of his is always alert and very active in class. He was concerned when he had called her and got no response, even more when he saw the pallor on her face. "Yes sir! Would you mind repeating the question?" Usagi said. Feeling a little concious that know she felt all of her classmates looking curiously at her. "I asked you What do you think of the painting of Mona Liza by Leonardo de Vinci?" Mr. Tannaka said. "Oh, well I think he captured the innocence that surrounded her. That smile of hers was both mysterious and provocative." Usagi answered. Mr. Tannaka accepted her answer and called on another student. Usagi sighed. She knew that it was not the best answer. But because of that mysterious note, she had a little trouble formulating her answer. ~I'd better show this to Mamoru later.~ She thought and tried to concentrate on the lesson. /**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/**/ Dropping the papers he had gotten from the nurses station, on to his desk, Mamoru plopped down on his chair. He was exhausted with the rounds he had just made. It was already tiring that he had to go on his own rounds but another doctor was tied up at the O.R. that he had to do that doctor's round too. He looked at his watch and smiled a little, it was 2:45pm, his Usako promised to come by at 3:00pm and wait for him to get off at 3:30pm. Having thought about it Mamoru went on to work. The elevator chimed on Mamoru's floor. Usagi quickly got off and headed straight to Mamoru's office. She was so in a hurry that she didn't see the nurse coming from another direction with a tray loaded with medicine. *CRASH* Down went both Usagi and the nurse, with broken bottles around them. "Can't you look where you are going?" the frustrated nurse said scrambling to her feet. "I'm sorry I didn't mean to...AMI?!?!" Usagi exclaimed as she looked at the blue haired girl before her in a white and green uniform. "Huh??" the nurse said looking at the person who bumped into her for the first time. She blinked and blinked again as if not believing into seeing the girl infront of her again. "Usagi-chan!" Ami exclaimed hugging the girl ignoring the broken bottles for a moment. "Ami! How are you? I haven't seen you since graduation!" Usagi said returning Amy's hug. "I'm fine, I'm volunteering for the hospital nowadays while still studying my pre-med course." Ami said as she released Usagi and bent down to pick up the broken bottles. "How 'bout you? how are you faring?" Then mischiviously asked. "And how are you and dear Mamoru-san?" "I'm fine. We're fine. In fact I was about to see Mamoru right now." Usagi said as she helped Ami. "Mamoru-san's working here?" Ami asked surprised. Looking at Usagi. "Yes he is. Why didn't you know that?" Usagi asked curiously. "No I didn't. Maybe I don't see him because I'm always at the Pharmacy Department." Ami said as she continued on picking up the broken bottles and placing them on the tray. After cleaning the two stood up. "Hey, do you by any chance had been in touch with the others" Usagi asked. "I have, as a matter of fact were going to meet tomorrow at Crown's Game Center at around 12:00 want to join us?" Ami asked. "Would I! Look I've gotta see Mamoru right now I'll just see you tomorrow okey?" Usagi said as she waved and hurried away. Ami looked at her friend's retreating back. She couldn't believe her friend had grown up to be such a beautiful lady. She was still clumsy, as been proven a few minutes before, but now she has an inner beauty that has grown even more beautiful. She couldn't help but notice the sparkle of the diamond on her friends finger. Amy had no doubt who gave it to her, at that she smiled. Mamoru looked up from his work when he heard the knock on the door. He knew instictively that it was Usagi. "Come on in Usako!" Mamoru called. Usagi opened the door and entered Mamoru's office. She smiled and went over to Mamoru and gave him a kiss. "Mamo-chan, did you know that Ami works here as a volunteer?" Usagi asked as she went to the chair infront of Mamoru's desk. Mamoru looked up as Usagi said this. "She is?" Usagi laughed and collapsed on the chair still laughing. Mamoru frowned and asked "what's so funny?" Usagi shook her head and smiled, "You and Ami, you've been working in the same hospital but you don't know that either one is here!" "Well, that's maybe because I have eyes only for you." Mamoru said eyes twinkling. Usagi blushed at this and smiled. "Oh, you," Usagi said. Glancing at his watch, Mamoru looked at Usagi. "Is my watch right or are you a bit early?" He asked. "I got out of class early if that's what you mean." Usagi said as she flipped open her bag and got her notebook. Mamoru nodded and added a few more comments on the report he was making. He closed the file and stretched. Usagi saw his movement and asked, "Finished?" "Yup, I'm going to the nurses station to drop this." He said and stood up. He arranged the things on his desk and tapped the file twice on the table to arrange the paper. "Let's go." He said, as he went around the desk and helped Usagi to her feet. "Mamo-chan, can we go somewhere quiet after this?" Usagi asked clutching her notebook. Mamoru frowned at the fear he heard in her voice. He nodded, he first went to the doctor's locker room to change. When he got out they stopped by the nurse's station to drop off Mamoru's file and went out of the hospital. "Now what is it that is bothering you Usako?" Mamoru asked, as the waiter went away with their orders. They were dining in a cosy restaurant just near the Tokyo Central Park. Mamoru had picked this particular restaurant because he had the intention of bringing Usagi to their usual spot in the park later tonight. Usagi opened her notebook and got the note out. She handed it to Mamoru and waited for him to react. Mamoru was carefully hiding his reaction. He knew that if,he wasn't careful Usagi might just read his mind. Occassionaly he would permit it. But right now he didn't want her too. He used all his self control so as no to alarm Usagi with what he was thinking. Who ever wrote this wanted to start a riff again between the two. and that is one thing, Mamoru isn't very happy about. "Mamo-chan?" Usagi asked fearfully. She had been trying to look into Mamoru's mind to see his real feelings. But he erected a powerful barrier that she couldn't see. She reached out a hand and placed it over his, that was on the table clenching and unclenching. "Mamo-chan?" Usagi tried again fearful that he was thinking something drastic. At last Mamoru looked up at her. Usagi gasped, his midnight blue eyes had turned into black, even if Usagi can't see into his mind, Mamoru's eyes said it all. "Usako, when did you get this letter?" Mamoru asked calmly. Usagi squeezed his hand before answering. "Before my last class, it fell out of my notebook." Usagi looked at him, concern written all over her face. "Mamo-chan what are you thinking?" Usagi asked, she knew that it was a question Mamoru might not answer, but it was a question she wanted to ask. Mamoru shook his head and pocketed the note. "I'd rather not tell you." Usagi was about to protest, but Mamoru shook his head again. "Just promise me you'd be careful alright?" Mamoru said, as he brushed Usagi's bang's. Usagi nodded reluctantly. Mamoru smiled lightly and took Usagi's hand in his to kiss it. Apologizing for his harsh tone. The topic about the note was abandoned for the rest of the evening. But in the back of the couple's mind, a feeling of dread came. For each knew that a new battle is about to begin.
