I know it has been a while, but I'm back now. I also noticed that Neomoon has written a Valentine's fic, starring the SAME Senshi as mine. Oh well, looks like the better one got there first, but I hope you enjoy mine as well. Venus fans, this one's for you! ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Disclaimer: I don't own any of the characters in this fic. What I do own is this story line, so don't sue me and don't copy me. Just enjoy an almost original work. The Court of the Love Goddess by: Sailor Pluto Rating: PG-13, for moderate adult content and language Aino Minako wandered throughthe halls of Juuban High School with only one thing on her mind...the Valentine Sweethearts Dance. How could she help but think about it with thousands of flyers and posters hanging on the walls? She stopped to look at one of the advertisements. She began to clench her fists as she read a poster slowly: This Friday- BIG EVENT!! VALENTINE SWEETHEARTS DANCE Semi-Formal 8:00pm-Midnight Only 500 yen admission in the Gym All proceeds will go to the school sports programs Buy a rose for your sweetheart for only 300 yen. Roses will be delivered in lockers the day before the dance. DON'T MISS IT! "Stupid Valentine Dance," Minako thought. "They only set up those dumb things for girls who already have boyfriends." Minako sighed hard. Deep in her heart, she knew how much she really wanted to go because she loved to dance and sing karaoke. She didn't see two figures sneaking up behind her. "Min-a-ko-chan...," said a familiar annoying voice. "U-sa-gi-chan," Minako said as she turned around slowly. "Mako-chan, Usagi-chan, ohayo." "Minako, why so gloomy?!," Makoto asked. Minako took a step to the side to show them the poster. "Ooooooh...," they said in unison. "Yep, I'm really annoyed because these things are usually set up for couples. It's no fun if you don't go with someone." "That's not really true," Makoto said. "You love to dance. Why should let some stupid custom like that stop you?" "Yeah, don't let it get in your way. We all know you're a really good dancer," Usagi added. "Were you guys thinking of going?," Minako asked them. "Well, um...I guess I didn't really think about it," Makoto admitted. "Um, I would go, but Mamo-chan is taking me out for Valentine's Day this Friday," Usagi said. "Usagi...you're not helping," Minako grumbled. "AAhh, I'm sorry, but it's planned already," Usagi said with a sweatdrop. "Okay, Minako," Makoto said. "I'll go with you to keep you company." "Oh, that's not necessary," Minako said. "Sure it is," Makoto said. "We'll go and find a bunch of cute guys to dance with us. We'll have a blast!" "Hmmm...I'll think about it," Minako answered. "Alright," Makoto said with a smile. "And hey...cheer up while you're at it!" Minako laughed. "Okay, Mako-chan." The three of them heard the bell ring. "See you guys later," Minako called. "I'm off to English." "EEW, English is hard!," Usagi wailed. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ "I got it!," Minako shouted. "It's coming you're way, Aino!," her teamate said. Minako dove to receive the falling volleyball just in time. "You okay?," someone asked. "Fine," she answered, and the play continued. The whistle blew and the coach waved a hand to the girls. "Okay ladies, let's call it a day!" "Okay," the team answered. "Let's pack it up quickly. The boys team is waiting on us," the coach added. "Gotcha," the girls answered. The boys team began filing into the gym. Minako grabbed her towel and water. She just began to wipe the sweat from her face when a voice cried out, "Aino, watch out!" Minako swiftly turned around and gracefully received the incoming ball. "Gomen nasai! Are you okay?!," the voice called. "Yes, I'm fine," she called back. The one who threww the ball came running up to her. Minako recognized him. "You gotta work on your aim a little there, Asai-kun." "I was testing you. You never back off of a dangerous serve, do you Aino?," The boy with chestnut hair said. "How are you?," Minako asked politely. "Very well. You never cease to amaze me with your skill," Asai complimented. "Thanks," Minako said, taking a sip of her water. Asai paused for a moment. "So...you decided to come back into volleyball...that's great!" "Yeah," Minako said. "I guess I just missed it too much." "Well, it's great to have you back...um...because...you're a really good player...and you're valuable to the team," he studdered. "Come on, I'm not that good," she answered, blushing a little. He paused again, this time longer. "So......just imagine this place on Friday night. We won't be able to recognize it. It will be packed with people and decorations will spread across the walls." "Yeah, a real waste of time," she muttered. "Huh?," Asai said. "I mean it's annoying," she continued. "They only set up those stupid dances for people who are coupled. Only couples really have a good time at those things anyway." "Oh, I see," Asai said. "So you don't think you'll be going?" "I'm not sure," she answered. "I really like to dance, but I think people make such a big deal about bringing a date. It's annoying." "Yeah, I guess it really is ridiculous, isn't it?," Asai said. "Playing volleyball is much better, right?" "You bet it is," she said with a smile. "Well, I'd better let you practice. See you later." "Later, Aino," he answered as she walked away. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ The next morning. Juuban High School. Usagi walked to math class alone. As she reached her locker, she was approached by a boy with chestnut colored hair. "Tsukino Usagi?," he asked. "Yes," she replied. "I'm sorry, I don't want to bother you, but I need your advice," he said. "Oh sure, no problem," she said. "You're Asai-kun, Minako's friend, right?" "Yes, that's right. I'm glad you remember me," Asai answered. "So what's on your mind?," Usagi asked. "Well, I was wondering...did Minako talk to you about the Valentine Dance this Friday?" "Yes, actually. She's not sure if she wants to go. She's really frustrated about the whole Valentine's Day thing." "Oh, I see. So she probably won't go?" "You were hoping to see her there, weren't you?," Usagi said with a sly grin. "No! That is..... I mean....not if she doesn't like it," he studdered. "Ask her! Ask her!," Usagi shouted. "She's always wanted a boy to ask her to a dance!" "But I can't, Tsukino-san!," Asai panicked. "What if she said 'No'? What if it would upset her?!" "Are you kidding?! It's every girl's dream to be asked to a dance by a handsome guy!," Usagi said. Then she imagined Mamoru in front of her, asking her to go to the dance with him. *"Usako, I would like nothing more than to be by your side all night."* "Yes! Mamo-chan!" Then she noticed she had just glomped poor Asai. "Oops,.....ahhh gomen!," Usagi apologized, laughing at herself. Asai blushed for a second. "Tsukino-san?!" Usagi let him go and put a finger to her chin. "Well,...you can ask her without actually asking her," Usagi started. "That's it! I have an idea!" "Huh?," he said, not quite recovered from the shocked. "Come with me, it's not too late! I'll explain on the way," she replied as she dragged poor Asai down the hallway. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ At the end of the day, Minako approached her locker with a look of disgust. All around her were giggly girls who received red roses in their lockers from their boyfriends or respective dates. The squeals could be heard throughout the entire school. "Baka!," Minako thought to herself. "Stupid girls. I'm getting a headache." She angrily opened her locker to stuff in her books, when a small object fell out of it. She bent down to pick it up. "Huh?! A red rose?!," she thought. Attached to the rose was a note. Minako read the note silently to herself: Dear Minako, I request the honor of your prescence at the Valentines Dance this Friday. If you accept, please meet me at the school clock tower promptly at eight o'clock. I will be the one wearing a blue polo shirt and a white suit jacket, holding a red rose. I hope you will accept my humble invitation. Farewell until then. Minako dropped the note in shock. A few seconds later, the loudest squeal in the school could be heard coming from Minako's locker. Everyone in the hall turned around and stared at Minako as she ran through the halls crying, "Mako-chan, Mako-chan!" Minako caught up with Makoto in the hall. "Mako-chan, I want to go to the dance! I have to go to the dance!," she said, showing Makoto the note and the rose. "That's wonderful, Minako-chan!," Makoto said, and they both squealed together in the hall. "Oh, but what about you, Mako-chan?," Minako stammered, suddenly concerned. "Oh, I didn't get a rose, but I talked to Shinozaki-kun, and he said he'd go with us too....uh if that's okay?," Makoto explained. "Okay?! That's great!," Minako said. She and Makoto shared another squeal and turned the heads of all the people in the hall. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Friday night. Valentine's Day. 7:55pm "Damn this traffic!," Makoto shouted. "We're gonna be late for the dance!" "Relax, Mako-chan," Shinozaki said. "Getting uptight isn't going to get us there any sooner, much less help while you're driving." "But Minako-chan might miss her date!," Makoto panicked as she honked the horn again. "It's okay, Mako-chan," Minako reassured her. "We still have five minutes." Makoto pulled into the parking lot exactly at 8:00. "We'll see you inside, Minako-chan," Makoto said. "Good luck." "Arigatou," Minako said before running towards the school. Her heart was beating rapidly, more from the nerves than from the running. Her footsteps through the courtyard could be heard contrapuntal to the chiming bells. Asai was about to give up hope. The bells had stopped their chiming. He thought Minako had rejected his offer. His heart sank as he thought about it. He was about to leave when he heard Minako's rapid footsteps. Minako looked towards the tower and saw a shadow. She thought she could picture a red rose in the shadow's hand. The figure took a step into the light, and Minako saw everything...white suit jacket, blue polo shirt, red rose, along with khaki slacks, brown eyes and familiar chestnut hair. "Asai-kun?," she said. "Aino," he whispered. "You came. I'm so glad." He tried to hide his nervousness. His face face began to light up red like a candle. "Asai-kun, it was you?," she asked. "Yes,...are you disappointed?," he asked shyly. "No, not one bit!," she answered as she walked up to him. She caught him up in a suden embrace. "Arigatou gosaimasu!" Asai blushed and returned her hug. After a moment, Minako took a step back to how Asai her clothes. She wore a lavender mini dress with camisole straps, v-neck, princess style bodice, and flowing skirt that reached her knees. Asai stared in amazement. "Shall we go?," he asked, offering his left arm. "Yes, let's go," she answered. Asai was exactly right about the gym. No one could recognize that they were actually inside the school gym. The walls were covered with cotton to represent clouds, the doorways were lined with Greek columns, and cupids and red streamers hung everywhere from the ceiling, to the walls, to the basketball hoops. The band playing on the stage wore Ancient Greek robes and attire. Minako and Asai wandered around in amazement. Makoto and Shinozaki caught up with them, and Minako introduced them to Asai. "Hey, I got a idea!," Makoto announced. "Why don't we all do a karaoke number together?!" "Hey yeah! I love karaoke!," Minako agreed. "Uh...I don't know," Asai said. "I'm not very good." "That's okay, neither am I," Minako said. "What are you talking about, Minako-chan? You won a karaoke contest once!," Makoto said. "Um...okay so I did, but it's all about having fun!," Minako said, desperately trying to help Asai regain his confidence. "It'll be alright, Asai-kun! We'll be singing right next to you." "Alright, I'll do it for you, Aino," Asai said. This made Minako blush a little. Makoto saw her blush, but decided not to say anything. The four of them got up on stage and requested to sing an old Three Lights number, "Nagareboshi He." Minako did a fairly accurate impersonation of Yaten Kou's voice which made Makoto laugh at one point. Minako listened carefully to hear how Asai could sing. He didn't sound too bad! "This is cool!," Minako thought to herself. "I wonder if he still...nah impossible! He's got a girlriend now. There's no way he could still like me after so long. He's just a real good friend." The small group spent the evening dancing together, singing karaoke together, drinking punch and talking together. Finally, Makoto and Shinozaki decided to go to the snack bar and left Minako and Asai to talk. "So, is your girlfriend okay about you being here...," Minako asked, trying to be brave. "Well, I don't think she would really care. We broke up," Asai said. "What?! How long ago?!," Minako asked, surprised. "About six months ago, during the summer break," Asai answered. "What happened?," Minako continued. "Well,...we both just payed more attention to...other things...rather than each other. I payed more attention to volleyball, for example, and she payed more attention to...," he broke off with a laugh. "What?," Minako giggled. "She payed more attention to the boys on the soccer team," Asai blurted, no longer able to hold in his laughter. "Oh no!," Minako laughed, catching the irony. "Are you upset about it?" "Actually, no," he admitted. "She's happier now, and we're still friends, so it's all for the best." "Okay, as long as you're alright," she said a little concerned. "Hey, I'm fine. Don't look so glum," he told her. "Why don't we go dance? That'll cheer us up!" "Okay," she agreed. The audience turned to the stage with great surprise to see Peach Hips performing 'Tuxedo Mirage.' "Oh my God!," Minako shouted. "Peach Hips! I love these girls! And this song is so pretty!" "Hey cool," Asai said. "Shall we enjoy it?" He pulled her in closer placing one hand in hers and the other on her waist. Minako's heart jumped as she placed her free hand on Asai's shoulder. Asai noticed Minako's face turning a bright red, then wondered how he got the courage to do this, and began to blush too. Minako wondered as they danced,"Could he still be in love with me? A few years ago, he said he wanted to confess his feelings to me, but I stopped playing volleyball when I came back from England. But I've started playing again, now that my Sailor senshi duties have reduced. Is it at all possible?" Minako's thoughts were interuppted as the song ended. Another song began playing as Minako and Asai exited the dance floor to sit down. As they walked, they began to sense an awful smell. People in the gym began to cover their noses and mouths. "Stink bomb!," someone shouted in the crowd. Within moments, everyone was running for the door. "Aino! Stay close to me!," Asai shouted as he placed his arm around her. He held her tightly as they made their way through the crowd. Minako's face lit up like a candle. "He's holding me," she thought as she blushed. "He's never done that before." They made it outside into the fresh air, yet the madness never ceased. People were running around everywhere, looking for people they lost in the crowd. "Hey, Aino!," Asai shouted over the thousands of voices. "Do you want to get out of here?!" "Yes!," she shouted back hoping he could hear her. The two of them ran out towards the courtyard, away from the crowd. "Where should we go?," Minako asked. "I know a place," Asai said. "Where?," she asked again. "Surprise," he grinned. "Asai-kun?," she said, glaring at him. "You'll like it," he said. The school bells chimed 11:00pm when they reached his car. "Hope you don't have a curfew," he joked. "Nope. I'm not Cinderella," she answered as they stepped into the car. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Minako felt a cool breeze as she stepped out of the car. She could smell the salty sea close by. "The beach?," she asked. "Yep," Asai answered, going towards the trunk. "But it's February! It's freezing!," Minako protested. "That's why I thought you might need this," he said, throwing her a sweatshirt. It was his volleyball practice sweatshirt. "Your sweatshirt?," she said, concerned. "But don't you need it?" "I won't after a while," he smiled. "Huh?" "Just follow me and you'll see." He took a big bag out of the trunk and took Minako's hand after she slipped the sweatshirt on. He led her down the shore to a lit-up volleyball court. Minako's face got brighter when she recognized the volleyball net. "Now I see what you mean," she said, taking off the sweatshirt, flipping off her shoes, and taking her position. "Let's go!," she said, challenging him. "Let's see what you're made of, Aino Minako," Asai answered, accepting her challenge. He pulled a volleyball out of the bag and gave the first serve. Minako fought back with a fierce spike. Asai dove hard, but missed it. "Not bad," Asai said, impressed. "Thanks," Minako replied. Asai picked up the ball and served again. They volleyed back and forth for hours, taking water breaks every 15 minutes or so. Minako felt herself getting tired, but she didn't care. She was so full of adrenaline, she didn't mind if she passed out from exhaustion. Asai spiked another ball, and Minako tried to block it, but she tripped and fell down laughing instead. "Oh...Aino!," Asai called. "Gomen nasai!" He ran to the other side of the net. "Are you okay? Do you need any help getting up?," he asked, offering his hand. "Yeah, I think I do," she said, still laughing. But as she took his hand, she used all her force to pull him down onto the sand. He landed just next to her, coming so close to crushing her arm. "Hey?!," he said, laughing playfully. "That's what you get for being so good at spiking!," Minako taunted. "I thought you might be able to handle it...," he said, making a sly grin. "...but if that's the way you want to play..." Minako felt an electrical surge coming from her side. It didn't take her long to figure out that Asai was tickling her. "Ahhhhh! No, no, no!," she screamed in delight. "Come on, Aino!," he laughed, refusing to cease. "If you can handle my spikes, you can handle this!" Minako continued to giggle and squeal rolling around the sand trying to escape him. At last, she managed to roll onto him. With no time to waste, she grabbed a handful of sand and rubbed it coarsely into his hair. "Ahh! Cut it out!," Asai wailed. "Okay, I surrender! I'll stop!" He took his hands away and layed still in the sand, staring at the girl above him. For him, this moment was like a dream come true. Minako slowly rolled off him and layed in the sand beside him. Asai sat up and took a glance at her. He noticed that her cheeks were flushed, her chest rose and fell rapidly from panting, the straps on her dress were almost off the edge of her shoulders, and her hair was all spread out on the ground. His glance turned into a stare. Her eyes glistened with moisture, her lips trembled like an earthquake, and pores on her forehead sparkled with sweat. Just looking at her contracting body made Asai feel like he would collapse. "You're really exhausted, aren't you Aino?," he stammered, his voice warbling. "Yes," she answered softly through breaths. And Asai's body caved in. Minako felt her entire body turn to flames as Asai planted his mouth firmly on hers. His lips were dry and cracked, but Minako didn't care. She indulged his kiss and grasped him tight. Asai, too, felt as if he had just been thrown into fire. He rested his right hand comfortably on Minako's left shoulder, absorbing the bare skin underneath her dress strap. Minako welcomed his courage and rubbed his stubbled face with one hand and stroked his sand filled hair with the other. They indulged in the scent of each others perspiration, knowing that their exhaustion was most satisfying. After many long heart-pounding moments, Asai broke away and sat, lifting Minako up with him. "You know...I wanted to confess my feelings to you for a long time, don't you?," Asai asked. "Yes,...but I didn't know they were this intense," Minako said, still panting. "Neither did I," he admitted. "I guess it was because I held them in for so long." "I'm sorry I made you wait," she said. "Would you accept me now?," he asked. She replied with another heart-melting kiss. Her hands found the nape of his neck and she stroked the coarse short bristles, making him shiver. He ran his hands up and down her back, lining the spots where the fabric of her dress ended and her bare back began. Minako broke away and rested her head on Asai's shoulder. Feeling her shiver, Asai covered her bare arms with as much of his body as possible, squeezing her tighter. "You're cold," he said. "Shall I take you home now?" "No," she whispered. "I want to stay here with you. I don't care if I freeze!" "I brought a blanket," he said. "It's in the trunk of the car." Minako's face lit up. "Let's go there then," she said. "Would you like a piggyback?," Asai offered. "Yeah," she agreed. As Asai carried her back to the car, Minako blew air on the back of his neck. "Hey, stop that," he laughed. After he pulled the blanket out of the trunk, he used his suit jacket as a pillow and reclined in the back seat. "Aino, you should put my sweatshirt back on," Asai told her. Minako agreed and slipped the swaetshirt over herself. She piled in after Asai, shut the door, and pulled the blanket over them. "So, do you think you'll like Valentine's Day from now on?," Asai asked. "Mmm...no," she whispered. "I hate Valentine's Day." "Yeah, me too," he replied. "Hey, Asai-kun...," Minako whispered drowsily. "...next year, let's just skip the stupid dance and come straight here." "You bet," Asai answered. Before long, Minako was asleep in Asai's arms. "Oyasumi, Minako-chan," Asai whispered as he kissed her head. "Aishiteru." THE END ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ I'm sorry this is more than a month late, but I wanted to post it anyway since I spent the time actually writing it. Hope you have all enjoyed.
