I'm finally done with the Halloween fic I promised. Hope you all enjoy. (AUTHOR'S NOTES: In this story, the Inner Senshi all attend the same school, minus Rei. They are all in their third year (junior status). For all you people who have only seen the dubbed version, I am using the original names so I'll tell you who certain people are. Umino-Melvin Naru-Molly Urawa Ryo-Greg Shinozaki-Ken Motoki-Andrew Unazuki-Lizzy (Elizabeth) Yuuichiro-Chad Asai- don't know the English equivalent (stopped watching the dub after I got the fansubs), but he is the volleyball guy who once liked Mina, but didn't tell her about it. He was a pure heart target in season three. The outers appear in this but Chibi-usa does not. Gomen nasai! She and Diana had to go back to the future. Finally, I'm not even sure that Halloween is celebrated in Japan, so I need everyone to use their imagination for this to work. Arigatou! ^_^) ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ The Dimensional Gate: A Sailor Moon Halloween Story by: Sailor Pluto Rating:PG-13 for violence and mild language ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ A brisk morning in late October. Tenth Street High School. Usagi roamed the halls of Tenth Street High School just before biology class. It felt good to have all her homework finished so that she could peacefully take her time. Now that she was carpooling with Makoto and Minako, she was coming to school on time. Ami didn't carpool with them because she liked to come to school 45 minutes early to read. Usagi never realized how good it felt to be on time and not have to rush. Usagi passed by a row of lockers. All of a sudden, a locker door closed to reveal a pretty, black-haired, pale skinned, green eyed girl. Her hair was as long as her torso and she kept it in a braid. The girl turned to Usagi. "Good morning, Usagi," the girl said in her soft, sweet, yet firm voice. "Oh!," said a surprised Usagi. "Good morning, Mariko-san." Usagi was alittle frightened by Mariko. She was so quiet and mysterious and often kept to herself. She always walked alone in the halls and sat alone at lunch. Still, she was very pretty, and seemed like a friendly person. Usagi couldn't help feeling sorry for her because she had just moved here and didn't know anyone. Usagi decided to forget about being frightened and be a good friend to Mariko, that way she wouldn't feel so alone. "I'm glad I caught you, Usagi-chan," Mariko continued, taking something out of her pocket book. "Here, this is for you. It's an invitation to my Halloween party next week. It's the best way I'll get to know people here. You seem like a very friendly girl, so I hope you can come." "Wow," Usagi said in delight. "Thank you, Mariko-san! It sounds great! I think I can go." "Great," Mariko replied. "I look forward to it." Usagi beamed with delight as Mariko walked away. "I knew she was friendly," Usagi thought. Mariko turned back for a second. "Oh, before I forget, Usagi," Mariko said. "...you can bring a friend with you if you like." "Arigatou, Mariko-san," Usagi called down the hall. Usagi turned around to see a pair of googly eyes in front of her. "Ahh!," she jumped back in surprise. "Wow, aren't you lucky Usagi!," said a familiar, annoying voice. "Umino! You scared the crap out of me! What do you want?!," Usagi shouted. "I just wanted to say how fortunate you are," Umino repied. "Really? Why is that?," Usagi asked. "You just talked to one of the richest girls in the district! And she invited you to her really big house! She just moved here from Osaka, and her parents are supposed to be really big business people. They have this really big house on the West side of Juubangai, but her parents are so busy with work that they are almost never home, so she kinda gets lonely. It's a good thing she wants to be your friend, Usagi, because you are a good person to be friends with," Umino blabbed on and on. "Hey, cool!," Usagi squealed. Just then, Mariko showed up behind Usagi. "Oh, Umino! There you are. I have one for you too," Mariko said, handing him an invitation. "Oh WOW!," Umino shouted. "I got invited to Mariko's Party!" Usagi sweatdropped as Umino went running down the halls ecstatically. "Weird," Usagi said to Mariko, but Mariko had already dissappeared. "Huh?! Mariko-san?," Usagi wondered. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Friday, October 31st. Halloween night. The Hikawa Shrine. Everyone decided to gather at Rei's house before they went to Mariko's party. Everyone had received an invitation except for Rei and Mamoru, but Usagi and Minako decided to invite them as guests. Makoto thought it would be a funny sight to see Rei's reaction if Yuuichiro showed up at Mariko's party, so she secretly invited him. When they all arrived, Usagi cried out, "Okay! Is everyone ready?!" "I don't like this Usagi," Luna nagged. "You know you're only supposed to use the disguise pen for Senshi business." "Oh hush, Luna," Usagi said. "We haven't seen any bad guys in a long time. It's time we kicked back and had a little fun." Luna just sighed and stood back. "Ready guys?!," Usagi asked again. They all nodded. "Moon Power!," Usagi announced. "Give us the Halloween costumes of our dreams." ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~POOF~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ When the tranformation was finished, the girls squealed when they saw each others costumes. Ami was dressed as a delightful water sprite. She had a short, light blue dance dress with a gauzy skirt and glittering blue sequins lining the bodice. Rei's costume was a Phoenix. The top was deep red velvet trimmed with feathers and the skirt draped with silk of many different shades of red. She had a beautiful feather headpiece and matching mask. Makoto was dressed as the most fantastic storybook princess. Her costume was a mixture of the finest emerald green velvet and brocade. The bodice and skirt panels were lined with a purple ribbon. Her hair was tightly braided and topped with a gold crown adorned with large jewels. Minako's costume was an elegant mermaid. The stretchy teal fabric with attached sequins fit snugly on Minako's long slender figure while the teal silk tail draped elegantly from her ankles, just covering her feet. In her hair was a beautiful headpiece of sea shells, pearls and various gems. Usagi was, of course, a moon goddess. Her long silk dress was of irredescent silver with little glitter designs on the bodice and various regions of the skirt. Attached to the skirt was an extra long train which Usagi held up with a wrist band. To complete her divine costume, she wore a silver tiara with a diamond cut crescent moon in the center. After the squealing stopped, Usagi turned to Mamoru. "Hey, Mamo-chan," she asked. "...why are you transformed as Tuxedo Kamen?" "Baka, Usagi," Rei laughed. "He's not Tuxedo Kamen! He's the Phantom of the Opera! See how his mask covers almost all of his face?!" "The Phantom of the Opera does look strikingly similar to Tuxedo Kamen because they both wear tuxedos," Ami pointed out. "Oh I see," Usagi said. "Well, Mamo-chan," she continued, cuddling up to Mamoru. "...you still look cute in a tuxedo." Mamoru's face turned red, at least what could be seen of it. Usagi snuggled. The girls and the cats sweatdropped. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Minutes later. In front of a very spooky looking mansion. "Are you sure this is the place?," Usagi said, worried. "The address is correct," Ami answered. "What's this?," Makoto said, pointing to a sign on the door that said, "PLEASE COME RIGHT IN." "I guess we should do what it says," Makoto said. "No doubt Mariko-san is still getting herself ready." They walked in together. The inside of the house looked more like outer space than a house. The walls were covered with banners of planets and various stars. The ceiling had many glow-in-the-dark stars and moons. The lamps were replaced with blacklights minus the elegant chandelier that hung in the parlor. They could hear music and many loud voices coming from the den. As they walked in, they saw many guests in their costumes dancing in a big open cleared space, under a bright disco ball and more galactic decorations. Most of the faces in the crowd looked familiar, as most of were from Tenth Street High. Makoto stopped for a moment and turned back towards the door. "Mako-chan," Ami said. "Where are you going?" "To meet my friend whom I've brought as a guest," Makoto said. "Oh great," Rei said. "Can't wait to meet them." "OH you will soon," Makoto said with a sly grin, and walked away. The group began to spy people they knew and split apart to greet them. Everyone stared at them as they walked by with their fantastic costumes. Usagi went straight to the snack table and began inhaling bite after bite of food. Slowly and quietly, a lizard crept up behind her. "HI THERE, USAGI!," the lizard shouted. Usagi screamed and threw a handful of pretzels up in the air. They all landed on the lizard's head. "Umino!," Usagi scolded. "Don't do that!" Umino was about to speak until he was interupted by a pretty leopard. "Oh Usagi-chan!," the leopard said. "You look so gorgeous! You must have the best costume here!" "Arigatou, Naru-chan," Usagi replied. "You look really good yourself." "Arigatou, Usagi-chan," Naru thanked. "Hey, how about me?!," Umino asked. "Uh....um...it's very...creative, Umino-san," Usagi said, trying not to laugh. She really thought he looked like a dork, as always. A dark, dashing figure came up to them suddenly. "My lady, Usako," said the masked man in the long black cape. "The music is playing and I insist that you dance with me." "Oh Mamo-chan, I've never seen you this forceful," Usagi said. "I guess I'm just trying to be my character," Mamoru said. Usagi giggled. "Sorry, guys, but I think I'm going to have to steal Usagi away from you," Mamoru said to Umino and Naru. Then he planted a sweet kiss on Usagi's lips. Usagi blushed as she was swept away by Mamoru. Ami wandered around the house looking at the planetary decorations. By and by, she came across the planet Mercury. She stopped to admire it. It seemed so quiet and peaceful there on the pitch black wall. She felt as if she were really staring down at the planet from outer space. Her thoughts were interupted by a gentle male voice. "Getting a little homesick, Ami-chan?," the voice said. Ami turned around to see a boy dressed as a wizard standing nearby. She could recognize the voice and the features behind the fluffy white beard. "Ryo-kun!," Ami exclaimed. "How are you?!" They shared a brief hug. "Ami-chan, you're the most beautiful water sprite I've ever seen. Where did you get that costume?! It's amazing!" "Well, I'll tell you if you promise not to repeat it to anyone," Ami said." "I promise not to say anything," Ryo said. Ami whispered the source of the costume in his ear. "Oh, I get it. That's a great idea," he said. "Your costume is really nice too," Ami said. "It suits you very well." "Arigatou, Ami-chan," Ryo replied. Then he blushed and took a step closer to Ami. "Hey...um...would you let me be your escort for the evening?" "I would love for you to be my escort, Ryo-kun," Ami said, now blushing herself. Ami took the wizards arm and followed him back into the dining room where the other guests were. Makoto walked back in through the door with a black ninja at her side. "You look great Yuuichiro. I don't think Rei-chan will recognize you," Makoto said. "I don't know about this, Mako-san. I'm sure I'll screw up," Yuuichiro answered. "You have a face mask. As long as you don't fall over yourself, you'll be fine," Makoto giggled. They entered the parlor and Yuuichiro could see Rei in her Phoenix costume across the room. He nearly tripped over another guest. "Mako-san...look at her! She's a goddess!," Yuuichiro said softly. "Don't be nervous, Yuuichiro," Makoto assured him. "Just do like we practiced and Rei will be all yours." "Okay...okay," he said nervously. "Remember...be a distinguished gentleman," she said, starting to walk away. "A distinguished gentleman," Yuuichiro said, taking a breath. First, he walked over to the CD player and put in a different CD. After a few seconds, a pretty waltz could be heard throughout the room. Soon, everyone was staring at the black ninja. Yuuichiro graced his way over to Rei who had no idea who he was. He offered her his hand. She graciously accepted and the two of them floated out to the center of the room. Guests stared with awe as the couple gracefully performed an authentic waltz. They were joined by other couples, including Usagi and Mamoru, and Ami and Ryo, who just happened to know how to waltz. Rei was captivated by this dashing stranger, though she thought it was a tad weird that he was dressed as a ninja. The song ended, and Rei and her partner elegantly concluded by bowing to each other. The onlooking guests applauded and hooted. Rei blushed a bit as the stranger kissed her hand before dissappearing into a crowd of women who wanted the next dance. Rei felt as light as a cloud as she walked through the halls looking for the others. She ran into Minako. "Rei-chan!, Minako squealed. "I had no idea you could dance like that. It was so graceful, like a dream!" "Uh huh," Rei mumbled, still in a trance. "Rei-chan?," Minako wondered. Then she got impatient. "REI-CHAN!" "Huh?...oh hi, Minako," Rei said. "How are you?" "Rei-chan, who was that guy who danced with you?!," Minako asked, excited. "I don't know...," Rei said. "...but I want to find out." She walked away in a daze. "Geez, what's gotten into her?," Minako thought. Techno dance music began to play from the CD player once again. Minako sighed. Her eyes scanned the room, zooming in on some happy couples dancing their feet off. "I wish I could be with a great guy. I wish a handsome, dashing young man would come up to me and ask me to dance," she thought. Little did she know that behind her stood a tall young man in a musketeer costume, about to grant her wish. "Aino Minako! Fancy meeting you here!," said the musketeer. "Asai-kun!," Minako answered. Her face began to glow with excitement. "Would you like to dance, Minako?," Asai asked, extending out his gloved hand. "Yeah!," she shouted, and jumped up. Asai led Minako out onto the floor. "Minako, you're the most enchanting mermaid I've ever seen. Your costume has got to be the best one here," Asai complimented. "You're looking very dashing there yourself, Asai-kun," Minako reciprocated. "But I don't thinnk you could play very good volleyball in that costume," Asai joked. Minako gave him a sly grin. "Shut up and dance," she laughed. Asai laughed with her as they began to move. Makoto was sitting and talking with Motoki and Unazuki in the parlor. Motoki was dressed as Death and Unazuki was a rather pretty witch. A medieval knight in chain mail approached them. "Hi Mako-chan," he said. "Shinozaki-kun! I didn't expect to see you here!," Makoto answered. "Why not? We go to the same school," Shinozaki said. "I know. I guess I'm just not used to seeing you in a Halloween costume," Makoto replied. "Speaking of which, yours is beautiful," Shinozaki said. "Thanks. I'm glad you're here. I don't get to see you much," she said. In a brief moment of silence, something occured in their minds. "Hey, did you notice that we match?," Shinozaki said. "Yeah, that's what I was thinking too," she answered. "You're a medieval princess, I'm a medieval knight." "So...would you be my knight?," she said hesitantly. "Of course," he said. "It would be my honor." Makoto smiled at her friend. Rei came up suddenly and asked, "Hey Makoto, where's this friend of yours?" "Oh, he's right over there, Rei-chan," Makoto answered, pionting to the black ninja. "That's him?!," Rei asked with excitement. "Oh Makoto, he dances like a dream! You know him?!" "Yeah," Makoto answered with a sly look. "You want to meet him?" Rei's jaw dropped as she stood frozen. Makoto took her arm and led her to the dashing ninja. Yuuichiro saw them coming and prepared himself. "Rei-chan...," Makoto began. "I'd like you to meet..." Rei got nerves all through her body. "...my friend.." The ninja pulled off his face mask. "...Yuuichiro," Makoto finished. Rei sweatdropped and turned a bright red. Yuuichiro kept his cool and presented a beautiful rose to an embarassed Rei. "Charmed," Yuuichiro said in his coolest, calmest, and rather sexy voice. Rei turned back to her normal color and accepted the rose. "Would you care to dance...again?," Yuuichiro asked, offering his hand. "Oh,...no," Rei began. Yuuichiro's face fell. Makoto stared at Rei. "I can't take your hand," Rei said. "You must offer the lady your arm." Yuuichiro lit up as the lady in red took his arm. Rei turned back towards Makoto and said, "Makoto...you've got some explaining to do...later." Yuuchiro led Rei out to the floor once again. "Shall we join them?," Shinozaki nudged Makoto, "Sure," she answered, taking his arm and smiling brightly. After a few more minutes, the hostess finally made her public appearance. Mariko floated down the staircase, catching everyone's attention. She wore a mysterious long, very dark navy blue dress with thin straps, ornamented with silver glitter and sequin patterns in the shapes of stars and planets. She wore a long matching cape with the same outer space design. Her costume looked more like a picture of the universe than a dress. She let her long jet black hair drape down her back, divinely decorated with silver hair glitter and topped with a silver tiara of stars and rhinestones. Usagi's jaw dropped when she saw her. "She's the most beautiful of all," Usagi said. "I'm glad you're all having a good time," Mariko announced. The guests cheered. "...Because the REAL party is about to begin," Mariko said with a very wicked smile. The guests cheered again. Mariko descended the staircase to join them. Immediately, Mariko was surrounded by several guys who wanted to dance with her. "Wow," Yuuichiro said to Rei. "She really knows how to throw a party." "Yeah," Rei said, thinking for a moment. "I don't know why, but I feel something very disturbing about her," Rei thought. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Haruka and Michiru decide to take Hotaru out to collect candy. Hotaru was dressed as the cutest black cat. She carried a pillowcase full of sweets. "Don't forget to thank Setsuna-mama for making that wonderful costume for you, Hotaru," Michiru told her. "How are we doing so far, Hotaru?," Haruka asked "There's enough candy in here to make me sick for a whole month," Hotaru joked, holding up her heavy sack. "Well, you know...if you need someone to help you out with that candy, I'd be more than happy to take a few off your hands," Haruka said. with a sly grin. "Baka," Michiru laughed. "Don't tease her, Haruka. Besides, you shouldn't eat sweets. You'll get fat," she said, pinching Haruka's waist. "Hey!," Haruka giggled, tickling Michiru back. Hotaru laughed at her two guardians. "Well, let's do one more block and then we'll head home. We need to give Setsuna a hand with candy duty," Michiru said. "Yeah, besides, I want to scare the kids with my gorilla costume," Haruka said. "Haruka!," Michiru laughed, elbowing Haruka's side. "What?!," Haruka said, innocently. The three walked along the block where Mariko's house was. They began to approach the mansion. "Hey, I don't remember seeing that mansion there before," Michiru said. "I'm getting a strange feeling from this place," Haruka said. "Let's proceed with caution. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ "Now everyone,"Mariko said, ascending the staircase again. "...I'd like to show you all something very special, so gather around." Everyone gathered around the parlor. "And now...,"she said raising her voice. "...the life of the party!" She opened her hands to reveal a large orange sphere that began shooting bright beams across the room. Mariko's eyes burned a deep red as her beautiful dress began to tear itself apart. It fell to the floor in shreds and in it's place was a deep red gown with purple streaks. Her hair began to get it's own red streaks too. The entire house began to glow with orange and yellow lightsand the walls began to morph. People began groaning in pain as they felt their energy drained out of them. Usagi watched in horror. "Mariko-san?," she thought. "Sailor Senshi of this solar system," Mariko said in a frightening deep voice. "I know you are here. Reveal yourselves to me now!" Usagi gasped. She just stood there frozen, not knowing what she should do. "I'll find out who you are sooner or later...," Mariko threatened, as she raised the orange sphere above her. "...if you can survive my dimensional gate!" More orange beams shot out of the sphere, hitting people, causing them to be sucked through one of two doors to rooms. "What's going on?!," Usagi cried, just before she was hit with a beam herself. The force pulled her through a door that glowed green. "Usako!," Mamoru shouted, as he was pulled in through the other door that glowed orange. Usagi found herself in a dense jungle with several other party guests. But she could not find Minako, Ami, or Mamoru. "We're separated!," she thought. "Where are we?" "Sailor Senshi, you will need to use your powers if you want to escape my dimensional gate. You have until midnight to find me and defeat me, otherwise you and all of these people will be trapped in alternate dimensions for eternity!" Usagi gasped. "And just to make this more interesting..." All of a sudden, people began dissappearing. "What have you done with them?!," Usagi screamed. "Look!," Mariko's voice demanded. A vision appeared in the sky of Mariko and a group of eight people in chains. "Mamo-chan!," Usagi screamed in horror as she stared at the vision. Mamoru was in chains with Ryo, Shinozaki, Yuuichiro, Asai, Unazuki, Naru, and the captain of the cheerleading squad. "I will drain their energy slowly and painfully, until they have none left. If you care about your friends, you'll reveal yourselves to me! You have until midnight before I kill them all, and you and the others are trapped here for all time." She ended with a deep bone-chilling laugh. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ More coming. Stay tuned!
