RATING: PG-this is a pretty mild chapter. Not really much of anything going on here! FINAL AWAKENINGS PROLOGUE It was a bright and sunny day in the city of Crystal Tokyo. In a park a young girl with 'meatball' hair was running feverishly from two people. A man with a lavender tuxedo (no mask in my fic! We want to see those gorgeous blue eyes!) along with a woman in a flowing white gown were hurriedly chasing after the girl. The young girl, who looked to be about eight years old, was wearing a blue jumper with a pink shirt underneath. The only jewelry she wore was a pair of pink stud earrings and a gold crescent moon necklace that had been her mothers. She laughed mirthfully as they, yet again, missed her. "Alright, Rini!" the woman with sunshine-golden hair also done-up in 'meatballs' yelled to the young girl with determination in her eyes. The sunlight caught a glimpse of the gold and red tiara that adorned on her head. "You are not getting away!" The man in the tuxedo running next to her had an idea. Grinning to himself, he did an impressive flip over the other two and landed in front of Rini. Reaching out his arms, he grabbed her and held her to his chest. The girl squirmed and giggled trying to get out of his grip. "NO FAIR, DADDY!" Rini yelled. The woman stopped beside the two breathing hard, yet smiling. "I haven't run that much in years," she panted out. The other two laughed merrily and King Endymion put his daughter down. Smiling mischievously, Rini looked up to her mother, Neo-Queen Serenity, and replied to her, as she would have to her younger self, Serena Tsukino. "Not since your last daily-dash to school, huh?" Serenity and her daughter often had fights when she was in the past, but not in the future. Rini had never said so, but she missed her daily argument with Serena. Now seemed to be a good opportunity to try and have a play fight with her mother. Serenity saw where she was going and smiled. "Well *spore*," she started, sounding like Serena again, "for your information, I outgrew that habit when I was about sixteen!" "Yeah! Sure you did...Meatball Head!" Rini laughed. "Why you," Serenity started as Rini ran off. Turning to her husband, who was also laughing, she poked him in the chest with her finger. "This is your fault!" she hissed at him. Laughing, Endymion grabbed her hands and pulled her close. "Now *why* would you say that, Meatball Head?" Serenity crossed her eyes at him and gave a small giggle and then a sigh. Endymion leaned forward and gently kissed her lips. Before they could do anything else though, Rini screamed. Snapping back to where they were, the two ran off for their daughter. When Endymion and Serenity reached her the sight before them shocked them. Standing there, hovering over Rini was a man. He had flame orange hair and wore dark colored clothes. Getting over the shock at seeing this man, who obviously intended harm to their daughter, Endymion pulled his sword out from his dimensional pocket and charged at him. The man smiled and dodged the attack. He and Endymion faced each other and prepared to continue fighting. Serenity ran to her shocked daughter and pulled her into her arms. Rini threw her arms around her mother's neck and began to sob. Serenity watched the battle warily. 'Oh Endymion!' she thought. 'Please don't get hurt.' "SERENITY!" he yelled to her as he dodged another blow and countered. "GET RINI OUT OF HERE!" She was about to protest until she looked at the girl in her arms. She couldn't let her daughter get caught up in this. Nodding, she turned and ran toward the palace. ********************************************************************** Halfway there, Serenity decided she would kill for her communicator. She needed the Scouts right now, and had left it in the picnic basket on the hill. She would have to remind Mars to smack her later. 'No, I won't even have to remind her. She'll do it anyways.' She was running past the crystallized structures of her city when she heard a deafening roar overhead. Looking up, she saw the sky being to turn a harsh black color and demons began to appear everywhere she looked. Clutching her young daughter closer, she raced faster towards the Crystal Palace. Without warning, a jarring pain raced through her body. Serenity stopped and gasped. She all but dropped Rini as the pain hurled into her full-force, causing her to collapse to her knees. "Mommy?" the girl whispered hoarsely. "What's wrong?" Serenity gasped out the only thing she could, "Endymion..." Rini's eyes filled with tears as she realized what her mother was saying. Her father was hurt, and her mother could feel it. Before either could react a shadow came over them. "Excuse me, Your *Majesty*," a new voice said. Serenity looked up and gasped. Before she could call out, she was unconscious with Rini in her arms. Rini looked to the woman who had done this, and began to run away. She tripped and fell, landing on her face. The only thing she could see was a flash of red and that the woman had an evil look in her eye as she came in towards Rini. Rini began backing up, still on the ground. She was about to scream, but the woman hit her with a blast of energy before she could think about it. The last thing she heard before she was pulled into unconsciousness was a round of evil laughter. ********************************************************************** The next thing that Rini heard was very familiar voices. She struggled to open her eyes, but they wouldn't obey her command and stayed sealed shut. She could vaguely hear the conversation going on around her. "She must...back. It is our only..." "If only I had paid more...the fire." "...not your fault, Mars." "Is she going...okay?" "...not sure..." Rini couldn't make sense of what was going on around her. She knew the voices were those of the Sailor Scouts, but she didn't know what they were talking about. Everything was too vague, it was too much for her. The next moment, she felt a pair of familiar feminine arms pick her up gently. The owner of the arms began to speak, and Rini understood what it was saying. "She will go back to the past. It is our only hope of protecting her." Rini struggled to open her eyes and when she did, she saw the woman who was holding her. She had long black hair, and sparkling eyes. She had on a very dark colored Sailor fuku. Right before Rini passed out again she managed to whisper, "Au-" ********************************************************************** Seventeen year old Serena Tsukino smiled as she walked through Fairview Park. She breathed in the sweet smell of the rose gardens she was walking through. Serena was glad that the park had never been demolished, Mr. Baxter had organized enough of a protest three years ago to keep it from becoming an office building. 'The Negaverse influence probably helped!' she thought with a giggle. She sobered up at the thought of the Negaverse. She hadn't really had a battle for two years. Not that she was complaining about *that*. There just wasn't as much action as there used to be. Not since Rini had left and gone back to the future two years ago. "Rini," Serena whispered sadly. The only person who knew how much she missed her future daughter was Darien. And that was because he missed her just as much. She had loved the little spore even before she had known who she really was. When Rini had left, Serena felt a part of her leaving too. She hoped, she knew, that she could regain that part of her after she and Darien got married. Suddenly, Serena felt familiar hands come over her eyes and herself being pressed against a warm body. There were a pair of smiling lips near her ear, "Guess who?" a voice whispered huskily. Serena smiled and began throwing guesses. "Luna? No, that can't be she has fur. Amy's not the type for these kinds of games. Mina's with Lita who's out guy shopping (again) today. Raye? No she's too big of a brat. Maybe it's that jerk of a boyfriend of mine, Darien Shields?" Darien chuckled and took his hands off of her eyes and wrapped them around her waist instead. "Hi, Meatball Head! What are you doing?" Serena smiled and turned around in his embrace. "Nothing. And how many times have I told you not to call me 'Meatball Head?'" she asked in mock anger. He knew that she actually like that nickname, but she couldn't help but patronize him when it came to her pet name. Darien laughed and pulled her closer. "You said I could call you that, remember?" He planted a small kiss on her lips. Serena's face brightened up, and wrapped her arms tightly around his neck. "I could use a reminder." Darien grinned and leaned forward, kissing her passionately. They stayed that way for a few minuets, not caring about anything else in the world. They were together. That's all that mattered to them. A sudden thunderous sound made the two of them jerk away from the other. It sounded like the rumbling of thunder, but not. Besides, there were no clouds in the sky. 'I have heard this sound before...' Darien thought as he looked around. Serena looked directly above her head, and saw a strange pink cloud forming over her. She gasped and held her breath when she saw it. 'Isn't that what happened when Rini...RINI?!' First, Luna P came out of it and landed off to Serena and Darien's right. "Luna P?!" they said together. Just after that, a little girl tumbled down from the cloud. Serena gasped at the recognition of who that little girl was. "RINI!" Darien raced forward to where she was falling, and caught her effortlessly. Rini grabbed the fabric of his shirt and held it tight as she buried her face into the warmth of the material. She didn't look up, until she heard very familiar voices asking if she was ok. "Mommy?" Rini whispered hesitantly, afraid that if she looked up, it would be an illusion from the enemy. She cast a glance up and saw who it was that caught her. "Daddy?" She turned to her side and saw her future mother standing there, looking very worried and very confused. 'Serena and Darien,' she thought somewhat happily. 'I'm in the past again. No...' She was upset that she had to come again, she didn't even know if her parents were alright, but she was happy to be near familiar people. People who she knew she could trust. "DADDY! MOMMY!" she cried as she left Darien's arms, and leapt in to her mothers. Serena was surprised at first, but then slowly slid to the down into the damp grass with her daughter in her arms. Rini clutched Serena tightly with tears streaming down her face, repeating 'Mommy,' over and over. Tears began to slide down Serena's face as well. Darien pulled both of them into a hug and, he too, let a few tears leak from his eyes. "Oh, gosh, Rini!" Serena exclaimed. She pulled away from her daughter and looked at her. She looked basically the same, cotton candy pink hair done in cone 'meatballs.' Her large cinnamon pink eyes radiated love and innocence, just as her mothers did. She was taller then when they had seen her, she was now at least eight. Her hair was longer too, it reached almost down to her knees. "What are you doing here? Is something wrong, Honey?" Serena asked her questions and hoped that she was wrong. She prayed that everything was just fine and that this was a social visit. She always did hate it when she was wrong. "Mommy, Daddy," she whispered struggling against the tears that threatened to break loose again. They pulled her in for another hug. She whispered to them the answer to their questions. "The future's in danger." Serena and Darien pulled back, wide-eyed, in horror. They knew that it was bad if Rini had been sent to come and stay with them. She hadn't been in the past in over two years, not even to visit, and now she was coming because of every circumstance that Serena and Darien had prayed that she wouldn't come for. "How?" Serena asked gently, attempting to keep her voice from shaking. She was scared. It was hard enough for Darien and the Sailor Scouts of to know that one day she would fall into a sleep where no one could reach her and it would force her daughter to journey to the twentieth century. They were dreading the day that would happen. Now it seemed that something else was going to happen that they would need to fear. Rini hadn't said anything except for those four words, but already Serena and Darien knew it had to be horrible. Rini didn't answer; she just burst into tears again. Serena reached into her pocket took out her communicator, pulling away from Rini momentarily. Darien wrapped Rini into a fierce fatherly hug, letting her cry into his shirt. Serena felt tears come to her eyes at the sight. Wiping them away angrily she turned around, so that her back was towards Rini. 'Who ever did this, will pay dearly!' She began furiously pushing buttons. All of the girls' faces appeared on the mini screen of her wrist communicator at once. "What is it?" came Amy's voice as she jerked off her reading glasses. "Something wrong?" Mina asked through a mouthful of food. "This had better be good," Raye grumbled as she brushed her hair out of her eyes. "Come on make it quick!" Lita told Serena hurriedly while her eyes looked beyond the communicator. "There's this hunk nearby that looks like..." "Your old boyfriend!" the girls exploded into giggles. "Am I *that* predictable?" Serena inhaled deeply. It had been a few months since their last demon attack, and she hated to spoil the peace. Even without a big enemy, there were still left over demons and renegade monsters running around. She let out her breath and spoke quietly. "Guys, we have a problem. I need everyone at the temple NOW." "Why, Serena?" Amy asked. "Look guys, I know you have questions but, I need to see all of you now. And if someone could find Luna and Artemis on their way, that would be great." The other girls, still confused, murmured their acknowledgements and signed off. Serena turned to Darien and Rini, who were still sitting in the grass, and told them what was going on. The two nodded and Rini took each of their hands and the three of them began walking toward the temple. ********************************************************************** A girl with long midnight black hair awoke in her room. 'No it's not my room,' she thought bitterly. 'I'm back in the orphanage.' It was the middle of the afternoon, and she still couldn't get out of bed. Tears fell from her eyes and into her already salty smelling pillow. She groaned and turned over. She just felt like crawling under a rock and dying. Her life was miserable. No friends, no family, no love. A small white object on her nightstand caught her eye. A note. She picked it up with trembling hands and began to read it. Dear Roseanna, I know that you are sad, my child. I know that you had finally found a family, even if it was only for a short while. Although we welcome you back with open arms, we wish we would never have had to. The Kents, God rest their souls, were very nice and caring to adopt you at fourteen, for most that is unheard of. But you are 17 and back here for another year. I know you loved them and they loved you, but you must not shut the outside world out and not get close to anyone because you are afraid. I knew a young man who did that, and to my knowledge he never had any friends. Please come down stairs and join us when you feel ready. Love, Mrs. Jackson Roseanna smiled as she read the note, and a few tears leaked from her eyes. The Kents had adopted her three years ago, and just one week ago, had lost their lives the same way as her biological parents- a fatal car crash. Everyone but her was killed and now she was alone again. She had very few memories of her past. She was only two when her family was killed, so that made it hard enough to remember. The only clues to her past were strange dreams, and feelings of de ja vu. "Is it my destiny to be alone?" she asked out loud. "To never love, to never know what it's like to have something solid?" She began to hiccup and couldn't stop. People she loved had been taken from her again, and it made her feel cold and hard. "No," a new male voice came. Roseanna jumped and turned towards the voice only to see a dark gray cat with something shining on its forehead coming towards her. The cat looked up at her with serious green eyes. "Your destiny is to find the Moon Princess," the cat leapt onto the bed, "and protect her." TO BE CONTINUED... I know it's short, but it *is* the prologue! Who was the mysterious Sailor Scout at the beginning? Who is Roseanna? What is attacking Crystal Tokyo and trying to destroy the future? Who is the mysterious cat? Will Lita ever see a guy who doesn't look like her old boyfriend? Will these question's never end? Well, I guess they do! ^_^; To answer these questions, stay tuned for chapter one! No bad e-mail ok? Only constructive criticism and praise! I generally only accept, and receive, praise! Only Nikki seems to like to flame me! See ya next week! Stef-chan
