Endymion had immediately stormed off to the east wing to be with his wife during the battle. Entering the room, Endymion kneeled next to his wife's bed. He stroked her hair back gently and whispered to her what had happened. "I tried to stop her from leaving...so that I could go with her and protect Small Lady, but she left so quickly. We can't go. Amy just confirmed that the Gate is locked and there's no way for any one to open it." Tears formed in the young King's eyes as he continued. "I don't know what to do anymore, Serene. With out my family, I'm nothing." He lay his head on her chest and listened to her slow breathing. 'Almost as though she were just sleeping,' he mused to himself. A tear slipped down his cheek. 'Believe...' a soft voice whispered in his mind. Endymion blinked and sat up. He looked down at his wife's face and saw that her pale skin was slightly rosier than before. 'Believe in our daughter and in ourselves.' ******************************************************************* Sailor Moon and all the others scanned the dark building with their eyes while Mercury studied it with her computer. The landscape was black and brown hills that seemed to go on forever. No plants, no animals, no life. Standing tall in front of them was a dark, black and twisted structure. It twisted up and around itself in sickening patterns and Sailor Moon swallowed the lump in her throat. There was a sound behind them and immediately, all of the warriors turned and pointed the beginnings of their powers towards the sound, only to see Sailor Pluto standing behind them. "Jeez, Pluto!" Uranus mumbled as she put Space Sword away. "Give us a heart attack, why don't ya?" Pluto didn't answer but simply gazed at the dark tower. "Is this it?" she asked quietly. Mercury looked up. "Yes," she answered. "This is the base, the dark energy is very strong here." Sailor Moon squeezed her daughters' hand and then stepped forward. "Then let's go." ******************************************************************* Beryl watched as the twelve warriors ran into the Dark Palace. They didn't see nor sense her as they ran past. But that was to be expected because everything else was just as dark as she was. "This way, everyone!" Sailor Moon yelled while she was still running. Smiling cruelly, Beryl transported herself from the room she was in to just twenty feet in front of the Sailor Scouts. They stopped and gasped. "Hello, Sailor Brats!" Beryl hissed. "Welcome to the Dark Palace of King Onyxious!" Beryl raised her hands up and black lightning energy gathered around them. The Warriors held their stances, but prepared to dodge whatever Beryl had planned for them. "AND WELCOME TO HELL!" she screamed as she threw the energy at all of them. "SILENT WALL!" Sailor Saturn held her Glave up and blocked the offending energy. It harmlessly bounced off her shield and hit a wall. Licking her lips, Beryl smiled. "Nice...a very nice attack, Saturn." Saturn recovered and glared at the evil woman. "My true attacks are much more powerful." Uranus closed her eyes. "Enough of this," she told herself as she unsheathed her Sword. "SPACE SWORD BLASTER!" Beryl sidestepped the energy and teleported behind the Wind Soldier. Before Uranus could move, Beryl put her hand on her back and blasted Uranus twenty feet with her dark power. "Uranus!" Neptune yelled as she ran towards her. "SILVER MOON STAR ATTACK!" Once again, Beryl waved off the attack as though it were nothing, and it was a soon as it hit the protective shield around her body and disappeared into it. "No way!" Sailor Moon gasped when she saw what Beryl had done. Tuxedo Mask walked up next to Sailor Moon and squeezed her shoulder. Beryl sighed and watched the Warriors closely. "Now, is there anyone who would like to take a try?" she asked with a sly smile. Mars, Venus and Pluto stepped forward and she rolled her eyes. "Oh yes, this is definitely going to be a good battle," she muttered sarcastically. "MARS FLAME WAVE!" "VENUS PASSION HEART!" "Dead Scream." The three attacks combined together and raced towards Beryl. But just as was the same with the others, their powers were absorbed into Beryl's shield. "Alright!" Earth yelled. "That is it! EARTH GROUND-" Mercury ran as fast as she could to Sailor Earth and grabbed her staff. "No! Sailor Earth, don't!" she begged. Catching everyone off guard, they turned to Mercury as if she were nuts. "What are you saying, Mercury?" Jupiter demanded. Mercury held her computer tight and answered everyone with panic in her eyes. "She has some sort of shield around her, but whenever we use our powers and it hits her, it simply makes her stronger!" "What?!" Tuxedo Mask and Sailor Moon said at the same time. "Then how can we hurt her?" Neptune asked the lithe Water Soldier. She blinked and then shook her head as she pulled out her Deep Aqua Mirror. "SUBMARINE REFLECTION!" Beryl laughed. "That won't show my weakness, Brat! This shield protects me from all your powers, that includes the ones that would find a weakness!" She threw head back and laughed. Neo-Moon watched her with wide eyes. 'Mom wasn't kidding. This woman is crazy!' she thought with disgust. Beryl stopped laughing and faced the Soldiers again. "Well...I think now it is time." The energy she had absorbed reached its peak inside of her and she closed her eyes in concentration. She built up the energy rapidly and focused it to her hands. "EVERYONE, LOOK OUT!" Sailor Moon yelled as Beryl held her hands up above her head and the energy came out of her hands spreading in every direction, it spread out and hit every corner of the room, not leaving a single area untouched. It hit each of the Warriors and knocked them away, back into walls and each other. Sailor Earth opened her eyes and watched as a tall staff appeared out of nowhere into Beryl's hands. She pointed it at the nearly unconscious Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask. Tears began to fall softly as she thought of that day so long ago... *Flashback* "You should go, my sweet," Endymion whispered to Serenity as he hugged her. Serenity stepped back and thought for a moment. She ran to the safely of her love's arms again, kissing him passionately one last time before running towards her mother. Turning around, she yelled to them, "DON'T FORGET! ALL OF YOU PROMISED!" As the Sailor Scout's and Endymion ran, they went separate ways. It was Sailors Mercury, Mars, Jupiter and Venus who spotted Metalia first and went to fight her. Sailor Earth ran in the direction that she heard a laugh come from. A very familiar laugh. She cast one look back at her friends and smiled as she saw them release their powers at her. Her smile turned to horror as she watched Queen Metalia turn their powers against them, and kill them all in one blow. "NO!" Sailor Earth screamed as she watched her friends fall lifeless to the ground. "NO! YOU PROMISED!" she screamed as she got ready to run to them, only to be stopped when she heard that laugh again. "Very soon the entire Universe will be under my control! I'll have Queen Serenity begging for mercy! Queen Metalia, now is the birth of our Dark Kingdom! The Universe is no longer! Only the Negaverse will prevail!" she yelled as she released more energy from her staff. *End Flashback* She swallowed back her urge to cry, but instead cried out, "NO!" Earth stood and ran at Beryl as fast as she could. The Terra Staff clashed with Beryl's own weapon as Sailor Earth fought with everything she had, and everything she had hidden, against the witch. 'I won't let it happen again!' she told herself as she delivered a harsh blow to Beryl's midsection. Beryl staggered back a few feet and glared at Sailor Earth. "You want a fight, Roselyn?" Sailor Earth's only response was her heavy breathing as she put her staff in ready position again. "So be it!" Beryl lunged at her with her long rod and managed to slam it into Sailor Earth's shoulder. "Rose!" Tuxedo Mask yelled as he struggled up to go to his sister. The others we doing the same, except for Sailor Moon. "Stop, everyone," she commanded her warriors softly. The soldiers stopped and turned to Sailor Moon. She was holding Tuxedo Mask's arm as she said her words. "This is her battle. It's her revenge," she whispered. Tuxedo Mask watched his sister carefully. She was fighting with a rigid determination and unbreakable will. 'Fight on, Rose.' Earth and Beryl's staffs were clashed together and they stayed there as one tried to over power the other unsuccessfully. Rose fought blindly. She could hear her parents cries as they were cut down, see the Outers pained faces before she left them at the palace. Earth swung savagely at Beryl as she saw her brothers' face, just before she had died by this witch's hands. She felt the slight sting as Beryl's nails suddenly tore at her flesh, but she did and said nothing. Sailor Earth back flipped and landed on the other side of Beryl. They stared at each other for a while longer and at that moment, Sailor Earth realized it. 'I've never hated anyone before...not even Charity. She destroyed everything...and now...' Sailor Earth lowered her defenses for a moment before she came to her final decision. Tears fell from her eyes as she spoke. "I won't let it happen again! I won't let the future be denied!" Beryl began to slowly back away from Earth in fright. "WORLD SHAKING!" "DEEP SUBMERGE!" "SILENCE GLAVE SURPRISE!" Beryl screamed as the three powers hit her simultaneously. Earth turned to find the Outers standing right behind her. "Call it our revenge too," Uranus said darkly. Earth turned back to Beryl and saw that she was still alive, if only barely. 'For my family, my friends and myself,' she thought while raising the Terra Staff. "EARTH GROUND QUAKE!" Beryl attempted to move out of the way as the energy came towards her, but the Outers attack had left her nearly powerless. "ENDYMION WILL BE MINE!" Beryl screamed as her own death set in. When the light faded, there was only a pile of ashes where a woman had once been. Tuxedo Mask rushed forward to his sister and hugged her tightly, asking her if she was okay. Earth nodded, assuring her brother that she was fine before walking over to where the pile of ashes stood. Her friends joined her there. Jupiter frowned and spit on the ashes of Beryl. "Don't come back this time." Mercury gazed at Beryl's remains coldly. "I thought at first, that she had been taken by Metalia like the others of Earth, but it wasn't true." The group looked up at her as she spoke. "She called Metalia to Earth and asked her to rid of those of the Silver Millennium. Metalia was happy to comply, but Beryl's own jealousy was what really destroyed her, every time." Sailor Moon nodded as she turned away. "We have to keep moving everyone." They turned away and faced where Sailor Moon was looking, and saw that there was one cavern they had to go down. "Is that they way, Mercury?" Sailor Moon asked. Mercury pulled out her computer and analyzed the data. After a few minutes of typing and cursing, the blue haired girl sighed. "I don't know. There's too much interference for me to know if that room goes even beyond ten feet!" she exclaimed. Neo-Moon bit her lip. "So we have to go in there then," she said. "There isn't any place else to go," Pluto's un-emotional voice filled the room. Nodding, Sailor Moon started forward. "Alright. We stick together. No one goes off on their own and," she turned to face them all, "we all leave here. Or we don't leave at all," she commanded. "Princess!" Saturn exclaimed. Sailor Moon brought out her Star Wand and looked at them with determined eyes. "I'm not losing any of you this time." ******************************************************************* Onyxious opened his eyes and shook his head sadly. "Beryl, Beryl, Beryl...you'll never learn, will you? I still don't know why Metalia chose to keep you as her avatar, you were so foolish." Onyxious stood and willed a holographic image to appear in front of him. He could see the twelve warriors running through the tunnel as fast as they could. "So they want to play, do they?" He chuckled and his eyes began to glow red. "Then by all means, let's play." ******************************************************************* The soldiers were on full guard as they ran through the twisting and turning tunnel that they hoped led them to King Onyxious. They had been running for ten minutes and there was nothing so far. But that only made them stay on their guard because they knew how much Onyxious liked to surprise them with his little tricks. "Wait!" Mars called from where she had suddenly stopped. Everyone else stopped and turned to her, only to see her eyes darting around the cavern in search of something. "I feel something coming this way!" Her eyes stopped darting suddenly as they saw a figure slinking in the shadows. "AKURYO TAISAN!" Mars through and anti-evil charm at the shadow and it screamed before coming out. The soldiers couldn't see it's features very well, due to the bad lighting in the cavern, but they already knew what it was. A Youma. Frantically, the youma ripped the parchment off its' face and let out a scream of rage. Turning, it opened its' mouth and a blast of energy came out of it and went directly for Sailor Moon. Tuxedo Mask grabbed Sailor Moon around the waist and pulled her away from the blast. He held her close for a moment and gazed at her out of the corner of his eye before they left their little world and went back to the battle. "VENUS LOVE CHAIN ENCIRCLE!" "JUPITER THUNDER CRASH!" Venus' chain wrapped around the youma and held it while Jupiter's thunder hit it in its' chest. The youma wrenched and tried to pull the chain away from Venus. "AH! Help me!" Venus called. Sailor Uranus ran forward along with Sailor Mars and both of them grabbed a hold of the chain to help Venus while the others worked on destroying it. "NEO-MOON TIARA MAGIC!" Sailor Neo-Moon threw her Tiara at the monster, but it simply bounced off the youma and came back to her and she caught it easily. "It's so strong! Mom, how are we going to hit it?" she asked Sailor Moon. Sailor Moon studied the creature and looked to Mercury who shrugged as she continued typing. "I don't know, Neo-Moon..." she whispered almost to herself. "But we'll get it." The youma let out a small laugh and gave an evil grin. With a yell power came out of its' body and broke Venus' chain. "Damn it," Uranus cursed as she jumped back. "Looks like we do this with out a handicap." "WORLD SHAKING!" "EARTH TSUNAMI SPLASH!" The youma dodged the attack, but wasn't prepared for what was behind it. "SILVER MOON STAR ATTACK!" There was a scream and the youma turned to Sailor Moon. It was half dead, but that didn't stop it from releasing it's energy at Sailor Moon and throwing her into a wall with its' power. "SAILOR MOON!" the soldiers yelled as half of them ran to their Princess and the other half decided to finish the fight with the youma. Saturn gripped her Glave tightly and glared at the youma. Mercury, Tuxedo Mask and Neo-Moon were with Sailor Moon, making sure she was okay. She met the eyes of the others and all of them nodded. "Everyone...NOW!" she commanded. "SUBMARINE REFLECTION!" Its' left knee began to glow and the Soldiers smiled. "MARS FLAME WAVE!" "SPACE SWORD BLASTER!" "VENUS CRESCENT BEAM SMASH!" "JUPITER THUNDER DRAGON!" "EARTH MAGMA BOIL!" "Dead Scream." Even Pluto, who seemed to only be at the fight incase her power was needed, added her power to fully destroy the monster. There wasn't a sound as the bright lights clashed together and killed the youma. With the help of Tuxedo Mask, Sailor Moon stood up. "That was a strong monster," she stated. Uranus put her sword away and nodded. "It was supposed to be. Something tells me that's the youma Onyxious put in the closet for the special of occasion of the final battle," she said dryly. "Guess maybe he should make sure it's strong enough next time," Mars hissed coldly. "COME ON!" "Right!" Saturn's voice turned cold. "We need to end this battle once and for all." ******************************************************************* Ilene walked down the stairs slowly and watched her husband reading the paper and her son playing his video games. They were happy and had no idea what Serena had left to do half an hour ago. She clutched the letter in her hand and shortly debated with herself on whether or not she should let them see it. "Kent, Sammy," she whispered as she entered the room. The two looked up at her and she let out a sigh. Closing her eyes she handed Kent the letter. "What's this?" he asked as he took it and began reading it. Luna walked into the room and hopped on to Ilene's shoulder, watching what happened when Kent finished reading it. "Th-this is a joke, right?" he asked shakily. "Some sick joke!" Sammy blinked and took the letter from his dad and read it. "She's...she's fighting?" Sammy asked. "Why is that so important? it happens all the time." Luna sighed. "But it's not everyday that she goes up against the ruler of the Dark Kingdom." Sammy's eyes opened wide and he turned slightly pale. "There is a great possibility that she won't come back after this battle," Luna explained. "We can't think like that, Luna," Artemis sad as he and Terren entered the room. "Artemis!" Luna exclaimed. "You startled me! How did you get in here, anyway?" she asked the two suspiciously. "Serena left her window open," Terren said blankly. "Oh. That girl, when is she going to learn?" Luna muttered to herself causing light chuckles to come from the others in the room. "What are you two doing?" "Well, we were going to go to see the four sisters, Sapphire and Diamond and let them know what's going on," Terren explained as he stretched. "Are you going to come?" he asked her. Luna nodded. "Yes." ******************************************************************* Onyxious sighed and shook his head. The youma had actually done better than he thought it would, but it was obviously not good enough. Sure it wasn't nearly as strong as Beryl, but he had hoped for it to at least kill one of them Sailor Soldiers. 'But not even Beryl could do that,' he remembered. Sitting back in his throne, Onyxious sighed. He needed to wait for them now. "It won't be long now," he chuckled out softly. "Then my revenge will be complete. ******************************************************************* Sailor Moon was the first to notice how cold it had gotten, a sure sign of how close they were to Onyxious. As her feet pounded the ground, Sailor Moon knew that it would only be moments before they met their destiny. Only she and Tuxedo Mask had actually seen Onyxious in person, and she remembered feeling his power. Their breaths were coming out in small puffs of air now and they could feel the dark energy increasing with each step they took. Sailor Moon didn't want to say anything, but she knew that her vision was going to come true. When she and Rini had been learning more about their powers, she knew that that was a vision of her future, or the lack of it. In the past two weeks, more had happened then ever before with the mission. The Outers agreeing to join the Inners in battle was a tremendous step, but she knew, that it could be the last major decision they had made. Gritting her teeth, Sailor Moon let a single tear slip down her cheek and splat on the ground. They could die protecting her, and there was nothing she would be able to do about it. While the Inners knew they had to protect her, and they would with their lives, just not to the extremities that the Outers took. They would throw their lives away for nothing. They would simply die to protect her, a person who wouldn't and couldn't live with the knowledge that she had caused another's death, and just hope that that she could defeat the enemy with out them to support her. She smiled bitterly and continued in her thoughts. It was double- edged sword, in a way. If the Sailor Soldiers died, then she would most likely die anyway from using too much energy. But if she died, they had no way of defeating their enemy. She felt another gloved hand slip into her own and was startled out of her silent reprieve. Turning, Sailor Moon saw that Tuxedo Mask had caught up to her in the front. He squeezed her hand and almost smiled at her. His eyes betrayed his calmness, but he knew what she was thinking, and displayed his answer through a brief, non-verbal communication. 'Then no one dies.' Then the hall ended. The group looked around and saw nothing but blackness around them in the room. It was vast and seemed empty, with tall ceilings and no windows and only one door. "We must have gone the wrong way," Mars stated to no one. There was a chuckle that echoed across the room and sent shivers up the spines of all present. "Oh...don't worry, Sailor Mars. You came the right way, and at the right time, too." Onyxious' voice echoed across the cavern, giving no indication of where he was. "Where are you?!" Uranus demanded of the nothingness. "SHOW YOURSELF, YOU BASTARD!" she screamed. A light flashed in front of them, opposite of the way they had come in, and lit up a dark throne with a man sitting in it. He was tall with brown hair and red eyes that flashed hatred in their direction. "Such language in the presence of a child, Sailor Uranus." He shook his head and tisked at her. "Not very lady like either." "You are...King Onyxious?!" Sailor Earth yelled as she sized him up. He looked almost human...almost. Standing, Onyxious let out a small laugh. "Yes, I am King Onyxious, Princess Roselyn. And this," he gestured around the room, "will be your final resting place!" He screamed out in rage and dark energy erupted from his body, causing a wave of power to rush forward and knock everyone back. Sailor Moon grabbed Neo-Moon and turned around so that her daughter was completely protected from the energy. Slowly, the Soldiers turned and groaned as they stood up. "You...will..." Jupiter gasped out, "Pay for that!!" "JUPITER THUNDER STORM!" Onyxious didn't move, and absorbed the energy that she sent towards him. Jupiter gasped and blinked. "Oh please! If that's the best you can do, you're going to be in trouble in the next few minutes, when I really show you my power!" he exclaimed and sent the thunder flying back at her. Before any of them could blink, Jupiter went flying backwards again and into Sailor Venus. "Jupiter!" Venus exclaimed as she shook her, making sure she was okay. Jupiter moaned and her eyes fluttered open. "Damn you!" she hissed. Mercury didn't even bother to take out her computer, she knew it wouldn't do any good. 'I haven't felt this helpless ever...' Saturn swung her Glave aimlessly, trying to figure out some plan, any plan. "Okay, maybe we should just try and use all our power at the same time!" "Alright!" Mars exclaimed as she held her hands up and flames danced around her. "NO!" Tuxedo Mask and Mercury yelled at the same time. Sailor Moon nodded, knowing what they were worried about. "If we do that, he'll just use it all on us at the same time!" she explained while casting weary glances at the evil King who sat, looking rather bored, on his throne. "Very good, Serenity!" Onyxious exclaimed while clapping. "Did you figure that out all by yourself?" he asked in a mocking voice. Narrowing his eyes he smirked. "Or did your pathetic mother help you?" Sailor Moon's eyes darkened as she reached for her Star Wand and aimed it at Onyxious. "I don't have a pathetic mother, Onyxious. So you must not be talking to me." Walking down from his throne, Onyxious removed the flowing cape he wore and placed it behind him on the throne. The Sailor Warriors kept their gazes centered on him as he walked closer to Sailor Moon. Onyxious stopped only about six inches away from Sailor Moon and leaned down closer to her. "Oh, yes, I'm talking to you, Serenity." He grabbed her face and pulled her even closer to him. "And yes, your mother is pathetic to do what she did." Tuxedo Mask glowered at Onyxious and grabbed him by the shoulder, ripping him away from Sailor Moon. With out even moving, Onyxious let loose a small amount of power and knocked Tuxedo Mask down. "Don't get in my way, Endymion," he hissed. "My revenge will be complete and with out any interference!" Onyxious' eyes flashed red again and he turned to his left and used his powers to blast Sailor Mercury, Pluto and Earth. Turning to his other side, he hit Uranus, Neptune and Mars. None of the fore mentioned had any time to react and were rendered unconscious by the force of the magical energy. He sent one last stream of energy burst forward, but Sailor Saturn held her Glave up. "SILENCE WALL!" Onyxious kept his power up, but Saturn didn't let hers down. When he finally stopped, Saturn held her Glave high above her head. "I suppose there is no way to do this other than the last hope," she called. A dim purple light began to glow around her as she continued. "So I must unleash the power of death upon this world." "NO!" Sailor Moon yelled. She ran forward to Saturn and grabbed her Glave. "I won't let you destroy yourself! Please don't!" she pleaded the girl. "All of you mean too much to me!" "Princess..." Saturn whispered as her eyes softened, but they immediately turned cold again and she wretched her Glave away from Sailor Moon. "I must do this! I can already tell that there is nothing else we can do, so this is our only option." "Oh I'd listen to Serenity," Onyxious advised. "After all, then you'd destroy her too." Tuxedo Mask pulled out the Terra Sword and held it to Onyxious' throat. "Neo-Moon, get behind me," he instructed. Sighing, Onyxious teleported so he was behind Saturn, Jupiter and Venus. Without effort, he used his powers and knocked them all off their feet, they didn't even see it coming. "NO!" Sailor Moon screamed as she ran toward them, but before she could go anywhere, she felt an invisible force pick her up and threw her across the room into Tuxedo Mask. "THIS IS IT!" Onyxious screamed as he began floating in the air. He began to collect black energy in his hands. Sailor Moon watched with wide eyes as the darkness increased. Tuxedo Mask ran forward and grabbed Sailor Moon around the waist. "Come on, Serena!" he yelled as he pulled her over to the furthest corner of the room where Neo-Moon was. "DIE!!" Onyxious yelled as he let the energy go. Tuxedo Mask covered Sailor Moon and Neo-Moon's body with his own as the explosion rocked the entire room. Neo-Moon screamed and Sailor Moon held her closer. One of Sailor Moon's hands grabbed Tuxedo Mask's and they held each other tightly. "Darien!" "Serena!" Onyxious watched as the prone bodies of each of the Sailor Soldiers was covered with the rubble from the room. Most of the room had caved in, but he didn't care. He wasn't like Beryl, or Wise Man. He wasn't going to give them any time to attempt to beat him. "Well...after all the trouble you gave my Generals, I must say that that was much too easy," he grinned and began to laugh. His laugh could be heard, if there was anyone alive to hear it. "It's not over yet," a harsh whisper came from below him. Onyxious stopped and turned to see three people standing in the midst of the rubble. "NO! You're supposed to be dead!!" he screamed at them. Sailor Moon's look turned harder. "No...the only person who was supposed to die in this battle was you." Neo-Moon looked around, but saw no one else. "There's no one else?" she whispered. Sailor Moon looked around and surveyed the damage. But the only problem was that she saw none of what would concern her. Her friends were no where to be found. "Oh Gods, no!" she exclaimed softly. Tuxedo Mask looked in horror to where his sister had been only moments before. "You son of a bitch!" he screamed at Onyxious. "WHERE ARE THEY?!" he demanded while pulling out his Sword. Onyxious glared coldly at him and a sword appeared in his hands. "Well, I think that would be self explanatory, Endymion! Your sister, the Soldiers, all of them are dead! Everything you hold dear is or will be dead!"
