FINAL AWAKENINGS CHAPTER TWO _________Mercury's Sparkling Victory_________ Luna Pulled out Serena's uniform for school and smoothed out the creases in the fabric. She then went back into the closet and pulled Rini's out as well. Careful not to be too near the two sleeping girls, Luna walked up to Serena and began the morning ritual that was going on three and a half straight years. "SERENA!!!!! RINI!!!!!!! WAKE UP! You are going to be *late* for school!" Two seconds, and one kitty against the wall later Serena began her part of the morning ritual, this time with her daughter joining her. "WHY DIDN'T YOU WAKE ME UP EARLIER, LUNA!!!" the two yelled in unison, as they ran around the room, somehow managing to grab different items and such for their outfits. Serena, by accident, grabbed Rini's outfit and tried to put it on. "WAAAAHHHHHHH! LUNA! Am I getting fat or something?! Why won't this thing go on?!?!?!" she yelled, reaching another octave. Rini huffed and grabbed the outfit from Serena, handing her the right one. "That," she began to explain, "is because you grabbed *my* fuku, Meatball Head!" Rini shook her head and muttered something about her mother being brain dead. 'And Mom said that she out grew this stuff when she was sixteen!' Rini felt tears come to her eyes as she thought about what she and her parents had talked about the day before. Serena looked hurt but then panicked because now they were going to be *REALLY* late. "Hurry, Rini!" Serena yelled as she finished putting up her hair. She grabbed her school bag and began to head for the door. Rini came in with her hair down and had a pout look on her face. "My hair won't cooperate with me today!" she yelled. Looking softer she dropped her voice to a whisper. "Mommy, will you help me?" Her eyes were full of tears and Serena couldn't figure out why. Serena looked up in shock. It wasn't the first time she had called her 'Mommy,' but it was the first time she had using *that* voice. Serena didn't even use that voice on her own mother, she rarely had. Then it hit her. 'I'm her mother, and she's here alone, again. I have to help her.' Serena smiled and opened her arms. "Come 'er, Pumpkin. I'll show you how to deal with the only thing *worse* then the Negaverse and Raye and Luna's constant nagging combined (Is that even possible?)- bad hair days!" Rini giggled and happily climbed into her mothers' lap as she explained the wonders of styling gel, and hair mousse. ************************************************************************ Darien sat on the corner a block away from the Tsukino household. He looked at his watch and smiled, 'Three...two...one!' On cue, two girls with meatball hair came screaming around the corner. Darien's smile fell as they ignored him and passed right by his car. '*That's* a first!' he thought, remembering how Serena seemed to have a radar lock on him or something. Besides, how do you miss a gorgeous red sports car with your boyfriend in it? (*Equally* gorgeous boyfriend!) Darien quickly rolled down his window and yelled out, "Hey! Meatball Heads!" Two girls stopped, turned around, and saw Darien's red sports car for the first time. However, the look in their eyes told him that he was going to get it later. "Darien!" Serena screeched, quickly changing paths so that she was heading back towards his car. "Daddy!" Rini yelled, following Serena's lead and ran to the car. The two girls quickly reached him by the side of the road and climbed in. Darien started the engine as soon as they were in. Rini leaned over and gave him a hug. Darien hugged her back. Serena got in and Darien leaned over and kissed her passionately, both of them ignoring the gagging coming from behind them. "Morning, girls!" Darien said when the two surfaced for air. "Hey, Darien. What's up?" Serena asked as she fastened her seatbelt and tried to recover from daze he always managed to put her in. Darien was also trying to recover from his similar daze when he realized what she had said. "Nothing. I don't have classes until later, so I thought I'd come get you and make sure that you weren't late for school. I know you two were probably up all night talking and would wake up late." He turned to Rini and mentioned to her what they had talked about at the meeting. "Rini, don't call us 'Mommy' and 'Daddy.'" he told her gently. "If the wrong people hear, we could get into a lot of trouble, okay Pumpkin?" Rini nodded and cast her eyes downwards. Slowly a small smile appeared on her face, "You mean like Grandpa?" Darien nodded, "*That* is exactly what I mean!" he told her seriously. Rini giggled and Serena laughed nervously as Darien pulled away from the curve and drove them to school. ************************************************************************ Rose sighed as she walked to school. She had slept well, all things considering, but she was *very* nervous about her first day of school. She was even more scared then she had been the day before during the battle with the Negaverse. She stopped as she came to her desired location, Crossroads High School. It had taken her a little time to convince Ms. Jackson to allow her to come to this school, and even more for the state to work out the paper work, but she had done it. She didn't know why, but since she had moved away to Kyoto she had felt a strong desire to come and at least visit this school or its' Junior. One day the name just popped in to her head and she felt a strong pull to it. She had originally gone to Moto Azabu Junior High, so she didn't know why she wanted to go to a strange school. She had felt a need to go and at least see it once. Almost as though something was waiting for her there...(AN: Ya know, because Serena's there.) Taking a deep breath, she stepped closer to the alien place that she would attend for the rest of her high school days. Out of the corner of her eye, she spotted the most *beautiful* red sports car she had ever seen. Turning quickly she studied it as it slowed to a stop right beside her. Through the windows she could see a man and girl sitting up front. They seemed to be very close. Rose gasped and turned away blushing when she realized what she was watching. "Bye Darien! I'll see ya after school!" Rose turned back and watched a pretty blond girl with a strange hairstyle leave the car. "Bye, Meatball Head," the man told her as she closed the door. Rose watched as the car did a U-turn and went back the direction it had come. The girl who he had called "Meatball Head" turned around and sighed as she began to walk to her class. Rose didn't notice her because she was busy staring after the car. She *knew* that voice. Rose, not really watching where she was going, turned and slammed right into the girl with the strange hairstyle. Rose fell back, landing on her rump, as the other did the same thing. The blond girl quickly stood up and began bowing and apologizing. "I am so sorry! Sorry! Sorry! Sorry! Please forgive me! Are you alright?" she asked in a more concerned tone as she stopped bowing and looked at who she had bumped into. Rose stood and brushed herself off. "I'm alright," she mumbled as she noticed people snickering. 'Great! Just great! This day is already starting off *really* good!' The girl looked at her and smiled, "Hey, are you new here? I've never seen you before! I'm Serena Tsukino!" she chirped happily. Rose looked up at the girl with a shocked expression on her face. She was always the outcast, no matter where she went people looked down on her. She smiled and stuck out her hand, "Roseanna Shilds," (AN: Pronounced with a long 'I'. Not like Shields but more like when you refer to yourself. I.) she said. Serena took her hand and shook. "Call me Rose. I just moved here a couple of days ago." Serena opened her mouth to speak but was cut off, "Serena! There you are!" Rose turned to see a small group of girls heading over towards the two of them. One was a tall girl with brown hair in a ponytail, the second was a small blue-haired girl with a pair of glasses and several books in her hand, the third was a girl who looked exactly like Serena only with out the weird hairstyle. Serena turned to her friends and beamed, "Hey, guys! Sorry I'm late, but-" "It's a good thing Raye's not here! If she was then you'd never hear the end of it!" the blond said. Rose looked at the people and figured that Serena would probably forget her now. She turned to leave, "I know, Darien came and gave me and Rini a lift. Ya know, we had to make sure she was gonna be ok at school today...Oh! I also met a new friend!" She grabbed Rose's arm and pulled her so that way the others could see her. "This is Rose Shilds! It's her first day! Rose, these are my friends. The one with the blue hair and all the books is the smartest girl in school, and probably the world, Amy Anderson. The tall one is Lita Kino; she's the best cook in the city. The blond ditz is Mina Aino, she's the-um...I'll... get back to you on that one." "HEY!" Mina yelled, causing the other girls to laugh. "Nice to meet you," Rose whispered shyly. She had never met someone quite as outgoing and bubbly as Serena. 'I feel like I should know her...from sometime before. Maybe...NO! It can't be.' The girls began to walk into class and went their separate ways. Serena looked at Rose, "So, who's your teacher?" Rose pulled her schedule out of her bag. She studied it for a minute before speaking. "I've got P. Haruna." Serena smiled again, "You got Miss H. too? Cool! She was my teacher when I was in Junior High and now I got her again in High School. It kinda sucks, but at least I don't have to break in a new teacher this year!" she said with a giggle. The warning bell rang then and both girls sprinted towards the class. When they reached the class, Serena sat in her seat and Rose walked up to the front of the room and handed Miss Haruna her schedule. Ms. Haruna studied the schedule for a second before realization hit. "Oh! I almost forgot!" She turned to the class and pushed Rose forward slightly. "Class, we have a new student today. Her name is Roseanna Shilds. This is her first day here, and I know that you will all make her feel welcome." Haruna glared at the class for a moment before turning to Rose, "Now, Roseanna, won't you tell us something about yourself?" Rose smiled slightly and stepped forward. "My name is Roseanna Shilds, but call me Rose. I'm seventeen and I have a cat name Terren or Terry for short." Haruna smiled at her for being shy, "What about your family? Do you have any brothers or sisters? Why did you come here?" she asked. Rose lowered her eyes and let a small tear slip out of the corner of her eye. "I don't have any parents. I never knew them. They died in a car crash when I was two. I was adopted when I was fourteen because I was friends with the family's daughter. They were going to move away, but because I was already like family to them, they took me away with them. Not two weeks ago, they were all killed in a car crash and none of their family wanted me, so I had to go back to the orphanage. My last name really isn't Shilds. That's just what I told the woman who found me and I somehow know I pronounced it wrong." There was dead silence after she was finished speaking. Serena felt tears welling up inside of her eyes and she brushed them back. When Ms. Haruna finally got her voice back she began to stutter, "I-I'm so sorry. I didn't know. Um...go and sit by Serena. She's the girl-" Rose interrupted her. "I know who she is! We ran into each other outside." The class snickered and Rose thought that they were laughing at her. She looked down and began to walk to her seat. "Oh come on guys!" Serena yelled. "I've gotten much better! I haven't even been late for ninety five percent of the school year! I can't always watch where I'm going!" she whined. The class groaned and Rose laughed. She was going to like this school. ************************************************************************ "Jedite," a dark ominous voice boomed, "present your self." A young blond man, perhaps no older then his mid-twenties, appeared in front of a dark shadow. "Yes, my Lord?" he asked as he bowed down. The shadow seemed to shift and waited a moment before speaking again, "Rubeus did not do my biding. I need the Sailor Scouts dead! Go to Tokyo and force them to appear!" he commanded. Jedite looked up at the shadow, "Sir, how should I do that?" Two dark red slits appeared in what seemed to be the silhouettes' head. "I don't care how you do it! Just kill them all! That is, except Sailor Moon. I would be very interested in meeting her. You may hurt her, just make sure she's still breathing and, if possible, conscious when you bring her to me." Jedite bowed his head low, "Of course, Master," he responded with out missing a beat. ************************************************************************ "...and then Raye yelled at me and told me that I couldn't make food in her house again!" Serena finished as she and Rose came to a spot underneath the shade of a large maple tree. Rose laughed. She couldn't believe that this girl was such a klutz in the kitchen. She also had found out why Ms. H, as everyone called Ms. Haruna, had sat her by Serena. She was happy and cheerful, and had automatically made Rose feel better. Her smile and bubbly personality was contagious. "What's so funny?" asked a voice. Rose looked down and saw that sitting underneath the tree were the three girls that Serena had introduced to her that morning. 'What were their names...? Oh, yeah. Mina, Lita, and Amy.' "Hi," Rose greeted them shyly. "Hey!" Mina said. "It's...Rose right?" Rose nodded. "YEAH! I got it right! I'm so bad with names," she told whoever would listen. "Names, quotes, grades, boyfriends..." Lita mumbled under her breath. "HEY!" Mina yelled causing everyone to laugh. Serena and Rose sat down, and all of them began to eat their lunches. Serena pulled out her lunch and automatically began inhaling her food. Rose had her chopsticks in mid air as she watched the tiny blond literally wolf her food down. The other three just talked and ate like it was nothing. Finally, Amy noticed Roses' strange look and laughed, "Don't worry! You'll get used to her doing that!" she laughed again. Serena looked up, "Huh? Whah? Whah ou guz talkin abaut?" she asked through a mouthful of food. "You and your eating habits," Mina remarked casually. Serena grinned, but stuck her tongue out at Mina causing more laughter. "So, Rose," Lita began, "where do you li-" her sentence was cut off by a sudden scream near by. Which was quickly followed by, "Give me your energy!" The girls' eyes opened wide at the all too familiar demand. Serena groaned, 'Not now!' "What is that?" Rose asked panicked. Suddenly, hundreds of students were running and screaming past the girls. Glancing to each of her friends, Serena nodded her head; it was time for the Sailor Scouts. Grabbing Roses' hand Serena and the others managed to pull her far away from the danger and disappear. Rose looked around frantically. "They were just here a moment ago," she muttered to herself. "Rose!" came a new voice. Turning around, Rose saw her Guardian racing forward. "Transform!" Terren yelled to her. Checking to make sure that no one was there, she smiled. "My turn, what ever you are!" "EARTH STAR POWER!" ************************************************************************ On the other side of the schoolyard, an ugly monster (AN: aren't they all ugly?) was tearing through the student body. It was female, with long red hair and a red bikini like thing barely covering its body. She was shooting flames out of her mouth to stop the children from running. Several had already fallen pray to her and were lying on the ground off to the side. "MERCURY BUBBLES BLAST!" The fire creature was instantly shrouded in a thick cold mist of bubbles. It looked around and shot fire in the direction that it thought it heard the voice come from. "Missed us!" a voice called. "We're over here, marshmallow brain!" The monster turned and grinned wickedly. "Well, well. If it isn't the little Girl Scouts!" Sailor Moon stepped forward, "That's Sailor Scouts to you, fire bug! I stand for love and justice, Sailor Moon! In the name of the moon, I'll punish you!" The fire lady smirked, "Not today, Moon Brat!" She held her arms out in front of her and released a stream of fire at the four Sailor Scouts. All of them scattered from the site seconds before the fire hit them. "And I thought Pyro was bad!" Moon mumbled under her breath. "I heard that, Meatball Head!" came Sailor Mars' voice. "Fire, huh? Well, fight fire with fire I always say!" "MARS CELESTIAL FIRE SURROUND!" The rings of flame surrounded the monster but caused no damage. Jupiter swore under her breath. The monster raised its arm and prepared for another attack. "EARTH MAGMA BOIL!" The monster was hit in the arm, causing it to pull back. "Who's there?" it hissed. The Sailor Scouts turned to the source of the voice and waited for an answer. A girl about their age walked out of the shadows. She wore a blue and green Sailor suit and carried a tall blue staff in her hands. "Who I am does not matter. As for what I do- I fight you!" she told it as she jumped from her place to the circle of Sailor Scouts Summoning her inner strength, Sailor Earth concentrated hard. Terren had refused to tell her the new attack, saying that she had to find it out on her own. She didn't even know if it would be effective against this creature, but she had to try. She found it. The light at the end of the tunnel.** "EARTH TSUNAMI SPLASH!" A rush of water erupted from Sailor Earth's tall baton and flew towards the monster. The Sailor Scouts held their breaths as the smoke the water attack caused cleared. Jupiter felt like screaming. It was injured, but could still fight. "What?" Sailor Earth whispered. "That's my strongest attack! You should be dead!" A laugh resounded through the area, "None of your feeble little attacks will work! You see, we have grown stronger in the years, Sailor Scouts." A man appeared in front of the monster. He had short blond hair and purple-blue eyes that seemed dark and ominous. Mars, Mercury, and Moon took a step back in shock. "JEDITE?!" Sailor Moon cried. Jedite smiled at her and *bowed*, "The one and only, Sailor Moon. Now, I do believe that my servant Kilna*** has some business to finish." Turning to his lackey, Jedite gave it instructions, "Now, kill all of them, except Sailor Moon. We have someone who would like to meet her! And try and find the Rabbit when you're done!" He laughed again, and vanished. "Jedite," Mars hissed under her breath. "How is this possible?" Seeing that the Sailor Scouts were still preoccupied with the arrival of her master, Kilna shot flames out of her hands, and trapped the Sailor Scouts in a ring of fire. Just before the fire enclosed her, Sailor Mercury jumped out of the way, and landed safely away from the inferno. "OH NO!" Sailor Moon cried. The heat of the flames caused the girls to back close, like sardines in a can. Sailor Earth held up her staff and directed it towards the wall of fire. "EARTH TSUNAMI SPLASH!" The water simply turned to steam as soon as it touched flames. "No..." she whispered. ************************************************************************ Sailor Mercury looked behind her as her fellow Scouts tried to escape the inferno. "SAILOR SCOUTS, NO!" She turned to her adversary. 'This isn't going to be easy.' "So, I get to fight the wimpiest of you. Sailor Mercury, you have the honor of dying first," the Kilna told Mercury. 'Think, Amy, THINK! You are Sailor Mercury, the warrior of ice! She is of fire, you can beat her. Don't let your 300 IQ go to waste!' Snapping out of her thoughts she jumped over her foe and prepared to attack. "MERCURY ICE STORM BLAST!" "MERCURY ICE BUBBLES FREEZE!" The Sailor Scouts watched and held their breath as smoke engulfed the area. Mercury smiled triumphantly; but her face fell when she heard an evil laugh. "Nice try, brat. My turn!" Sailor Mercury watched as the fire column came towards her. A flash of red stopped the other flash of red. "Tuxedo Mask!" Sailor Moon called. Tuxedo Mask jumped from his perch on top of the school building and landed beside Mercury. "You ok?" he asked while looking over at Sailor Moon. 'If it hurt Serena, I'll kill whoever did it!' "Yes, but I have to put out that fire! They're going to burn alive in there!" she told him. Sailor Moon screamed again as the fire leapt out and burned her arm. The monster, obviously getting fed up with being ignored, charged at the two remaining heroes. Mercury dodged, but Kilna wasn't aiming for her. Flames surrounded her fists and she lunged herself at Tuxedo Mask, hitting him square in the chest with her fists. Mask choked and fell to the ground. Sailor Moon cried out for him, but he didn't answer. "NO! TUXEDO MASK!" Sailor Mercury watched the display with horror. Her anger increased when she saw Kilna completely ignore her and increase the heat of the fire surrounding the others Scouts. "IT'S TOO HOT!" Jupiter yelled as she pulled Sailor Moon behind her in an attempt to protect her. "Sailor Mercury," Mars called, "you're our only hope!" "What can I do?" she whispered. "My attacks won't work, but I can't abandon my Princess! What do I do?" 'Use your heart,' a new clear voice whispered to her. "What?" 'Use the strength that is in you heart. Use your true power, Princess Mercury. Save your friends, and the Prince and Princess.' Sailor Mercury closed her eyes and thought about her friends. 'What would I have done with out them? I have failed you before, Princess. I will not do it again!' Opening her eyes, Sailor Mercury felt a strange new life filter into her body. It was unlike anything she had ever felt; it calmed her somehow. "I know what to do..." Holding one of her right hand above her head in a fist and placing her left hand at the crook of her elbow, Sailor Mercury began to recite the new mantra. "MERCURY..." A cold blue light surrounded her hand. Seconds later, water began to swirl around her closed fist. The monster turned towards the Sailor Scout she had forgotten. "ICE BEAM..." She brought her hand in front of her and aimed her palm at Kilna. Kilna began to power up. "FREEZE!!!!" A blue stream of ice cold water flew from her hands and slammed into Kilna before she had a chance to part way power up. Upon impact the water turned to ice and froze her. The fire around the Sailor Scouts died out and all of them looked at Sailor Mercury in astonishment. The ice statue of Kilna cracked and disintegrated mere seconds after the Scouts were free, leaving nothing but moon dust. "Sailor Mercury, are you alright?" Venus asked. "I think so..." she replied as she looked at her hand in amazement. 'What was that?' "Tuxedo Mask!" Sailor Moon cried as she ran to where he had fallen. She cradled his head in her lap and brushed his ebony bangs from his face. "Darien?" she whispered too quietly for anyone to hear. Tuxedo Mask groaned and smiled when he opened his eyes. "What a beautiful site to wake up to..." he whispered. Sailor Moon blushed at the comment and smiled modestly at him. "I'm not that beautiful," she whispered. Tuxedo Mask sat up. "Says who?" he whispered as he kissed her forehead tenderly. ************************************************************************ Sailor Earth smiled as she watched Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask. 'They are very much in love,' she thought feeling tears come to her eyes at the moving site. 'What power that must bring them during battle.' She looked around at the others and smiled. Mars was shaking her head in mild disgust; Jupiter and Venus were watching them with dreamy looks on their faces; and Mercury had her back turned on them while she analyzed something with her computer. But from Sailor Earth's angle, she could see that Mercury was blushing slightly. 'This is a routine. I'm not ready to be one of them. They have been a team for years. If any of them remembered me, they would have said so. I am not ready. I'll introduce myself later.' She turned and began to go back to school. ************************************************************************ Mars shook her head and turned away from the couple. 'I see this too much!' She narrowed her eyes as she saw Sailor Earth trying to escape. "HEY! WAIT!" she called to her coldly. 'I don't trust this girl...' Sailor Earth paused and turned around, her cold blue eyes flashed at Mars dangerously. "What?" she asked just as icily. Mars seemed a bit taken aback, not very many people talked to her the way she talked. "Who are you? What do you want?" "My name is Sailor Earth. I do not wish to fight you, Sailor Mars. I am only looking for someone," she told her. Turning away, she ran from the Sailor Scouts. Sailor Moon walked up to Mars with Tuxedo Mask beside her. "That is the girl from yesterday. She's the one who saved me, Mars," Moon told her gently. "I think we can trust her." Mars turned to her, "Be careful around her. I don't remember Luna or Artemis mentioning anything about her. She could be from the Negaverse, Sailor Moon." Narrowing her eyes to the place she had disappeared, she continued. "She said that she is looking for someone. If she is from the Negaverse, then she could want you, Princess. We can't take that chance." Sailor Moon sighed. There was no arguing with Mars when she got like that. "Don't worry, Mars," Tuxedo Mask told the fire warrior. "We're here to take care of our Princess. That is what we must do." Tuxedo Mask pulled Sailor Moon away to a near by alleyway. "I think Mars is right. Be careful. We don't know anything about this Sailor Earth," he told her seriously. Sailor Moon sighed, "Yes mother," she muttered under her breath. Tuxedo Mask wrapped h
