Quote of the Week: "The best bridge between despair and hope is a good night's sleep" -E. Joseph Cossman FINAL AWAKENINGS CHAPTER 19 __________Prediction of Darkness__________ "SILVER MOON STAR ATTACK!" Sailor Moon's wand flashed brightly and destroyed Rubeus with out warning. It had been a good battle, but it wasn't satisfactory since a warrior had been lost. Malachite banished the image and turned to his two soldiers. "Beryl, Zoisite, that must not happen to any of us when we go out into battle. From now on, no single attacks. All three of us will fight and watch each other's backs," he instructed. Beryl and Zoisite nodded. "A good plan, Malachite," Onyxious said as he made himself visible from the shadows. But just be sure you can actually follow up on it. I can't afford to lose any of you." "Of course not, Master," Zoisite said with a smile. "And I need more energy! I can't unleash my true force into the world with out more energy!" Onyxious yelled, startling the three Generals. "Don't worry, Master," Malachite said. "We'll get the energy you need." ******************************************************************* Amara, Michelle, Trista and Hotaru carefully monitored their Princess as she started the exercise they had given her. Actually, both Serena and Rini were trying it so they could learn to harness their powers better. Amara kneeled in front of Serena and kept a close eye on her, making sure she wouldn't lose control of her power, while Hotaru did the same for Rini. "So what is this, exactly?" Ilene asked as she sat next to Trista on the couch. Trista turned to the woman and her face didn't change. "They are simulating the past in accelerated speed. In order to train Hotaru to harness her own power, I used this same exercise." Darien was sitting near both of the girls. He didn't really approve of this, the enemy could sense whenever they used power, but the Rini needed to learn to use her powers better; to grow. And Serena's own power was growing everyday, she could use the extra practice. Every Sailor Soldier was within a half-mile radius of the Tsukino house, though only the Outers and the royalty were actually in the house. A bright flash of light came from Serena's hands and everyone, except for Rini, looked to her. "The Big Bang," Amara said as the light dimmed somewhat. A second later, there was a flash in Rini's hands as she started her own simulation. The others watched in fascination as the past continued to unfold before them. Suddenly, a dark cloud settled over the entire Solar System and stayed there. Darien jumped when he saw it. "What is that?!" he demanded. "The end of the Silver Millennium," Michelle whispered sadly. "A time of darkness for the Solar System." There was another flash of light, from the Moon, and Darien didn't need an explanation. "Queen Serenity, using the Silver Crystal," he sad sadly. Trista nodded. "A time of light, even if only for a brief moment." They continued to watch as darkness fell over the System again, because of Silver Millennium's disappearance. The girls were in the same period of time now, everything going the exact same. Another flash of light came from the earth and the darkness lifted from the Solar System. Rini stopped, having reached the limit of her power, but Serena continued on. The light came and lasted for years, only to fall back into blackness, causing the planets to be nothing. Serena gasped and snapped out of her trance, breathing hard. Putting a hand to her head, she tried to calm down, but the vision she had seen wouldn't clear from her mind. Amara put her hand on Serena's shoulder. "Princess, what is it? Are you okay?" she asked worriedly. Darien jumped up and rushed to Serena as quick as he could. "Serena, are you okay?" Serena shook her head and bit her lip as tears trailed down her cheeks. "What is it?" he asked as he pulled her into his arms. "Serena!" Ilene exclaimed as she stood with Kent and Sammy soon behind her. "Go get some water!" Amara order. Ilene didn't move for a moment. "NOW!" Ilene and Kent ran out of the room, taking Sammy with them. "Serenity, what did you see?" Trista asked as she addressed Serena by her true name. Her eyes were serious and her face turned slightly pale at the thought of what she might have seen. Serena gulped a couple of times and opened her eyes. "The Sailor Soldiers...we were fighting someone." Her breath began to speed up as the images flashed through her mind. Serena grimaced and continued. "There was a blast, and everyone was gone, except for myself, Neo-Moon and Tuxedo Mask. Who ever it was k-k-killed-" Serena stopped and broke down crying. Rini touched her mother's shoulder and her father shook his head, saying he would comfort her. "And killed Neo-Moon and then Tuxedo Mask," Hotaru picked up where her Princess had left off. The others in the room looked at her in surprise, but none more surprised than Serena. "The evil darkness, then covered the Earth and Moon. The rest of the planets soon fell...and then there was nothing." Hotaru's eyes became sad and she looked at Serena. "Was that what you saw, My Princess?" "How did you...?" Serena whispered as she wiped her tears away. The sound of a glass breaking was heard from behind them and they turned to see Ilene standing behind them, pale as a sheet. "Mom!" Serena said as she went to stand up, but Amara stopped her. Kent led his wife to a seat on the couch and sat down next to her, talking to her quietly. Serena settle back down in Darien's arms and looked at Hotaru. "How did you know?" she asked. Hotaru looked sadly out the window and sighed. "I saw it." She looked up at Serena. "I saw it, My Princess. It was a few weeks ago when that vision first came to me. It was the deciding factor on whether or not the Outers would come to Earth and fight." Darien held Serena tighter and continued to sooth her. "Are you saying that this will come true?" he asked, his eyes dark and clouded. Hotaru didn't hesitate. "I do not know. But I have never had a vision that hasn't come true. I sincerely hope this one doesn't. For all our sakes." ******************************************************************* Amara felt the wind rushing through her hair as she drove, much faster than the speed limit, down the street. What the Princess had seen haunted her mind to the point where she wasn't thinking at all. It disturbed her. "Death and destruction of the last Royal blood..." she whispered. "Amara?" Michelle whispered as she touched her arm. Amara stopped the car, her brakes squealing, and turned to Michelle. "They have both seen the vision now. Things are getting ugly." Michelle looked at her sadly. "But it doesn't mean anything. Not now. Onyxious isn't so desperate that he would kill all of us so quickly. Hotaru said he wants our deaths to be slow and painful." "Don't talk about me as if I am not here," Hotaru said from the back seat. "And the vision could mean anything. Our deaths, the death of our planet, our Universe, anything." Amara started the car again and kept going. "All we can do is our mission. No matter what the cost, we must protect our Princess and Prince. The universe depends on their survival." A faint light caught Amara's eye and Michelle gasped as a tear seemed to well up in it. "But...one can not survive with out the other...and thus they are both doomed." "Their greatest strength is their greatest weakness," Hotaru whispered as she looked at the sunset. Trista said nothing. She looked out the side of the car and sighed. There was nothing she could do, except exactly what Amara said. Protect them. ******************************************************************* Serena relaxed in Darien's arms as they watched the movie. After her vision, Ilene had offered to take Rini for the rest of the day so Serena and Darien could have some time together. After less than a second's hesitation, they were off. Neither of them were sure what the name of the movie was, but right now they were too preoccupied with each other to care. After the movie, they went strolling down the block and Serena held one of Darien's arms tightly as they walked through the shopping district of Juuban. That was when Darien had enough of her silent brooding. "Serena, nothing is going to happen to me or our daughter," he said as he stopped and put his hands on her shoulders. "I swear to it, Serena, I won't let anything happen to her." Serena swallowed hard but didn't look up. "Serena!" Darien said as he gripped her shoulders tighter. Weeping, she threw her body into his arms and, startled, Darien held her as she cried. "Why did this have to happen to us? Why us? No one deserves to fight and know that something will be lost," she wept out. Darien held Serena close and buried his face in her hair. "No. No. Don't think that, Princess. Serena, don't you dare start to think that! Nothing, no one, will be sacrificed!" Lifting her chin up, Darien looked into her eyes. "And I'll die if anything happened to you, Serenity," he said softly into her ear. Serena's eyes widened slightly and tears trailed down her cheeks again. "I'll protect you, and this world, Darien." Darien didn't say anything to that. He simply held her. ******************************************************************* Malachite, Zoisite and Beryl appeared over Juuban Theater in an almost unnoticeable flash of light. Several hundred people were milling around the theater and the stores surrounding it. An aura of energy engulfed the entire area. "A good spot," Beryl muttered through blood red lips. "Prime energy here," Malachite said as he surveyed the area. Zoisite through her hair back and sat cross-legged while floating in the air. "Can we get this over with? I don't like being in Beryl's presence more than necessary!" Beryl's eyes flashed red and she turned to Zoisite. "I wouldn't be talking, Zoisite! Why, if I had my title I would-" "YOU will do absolutely nothing, Beryl," Malachite said as he stepped in front of Zoisite protectively. "As of now, you have no title, and are under my command." Zoisite sneered at Beryl. "Payback's a bitch." Clenching her fist tightly Beryl held her tongue. 'And so are you.' ******************************************************************* Rose wiped the sweat off of her forehead as she concentrated on her opponent. She had never done anything so difficult, and prayed that after tonight, she never would have to again. This was hard, and annoying. She was in her own personal hell, with no escape in sight. "I HATE MATH!!! Where is that idiot of a brother of mine when I need him?!" Rose yelled as she tore her paper up. Terren sighed from his place on Rose's bed. "Out on a date with the Princess last I checked, Rose. Remember what the Outers told us?" he told her as he jumped off the bed and walked to where she was. Sighing she nodded. "A dark world, and us unable to protect our Princess..." Tears welled up in Rose's eyes. "Terry..." she croaked out as the tears trailed down her cheeks. "I'm scared!" Terren was in shock. "Roselyn," he mumbled as he walked up to her and licked her cheek. "You've never been scared before." She held the small cat close and let her tears fall on his fur. "I'm not afraid to die, Terry. I'm not scared of what may happen to me in battle...but if they're lost, I'm terrified of what will happen to the world. Darkness...the Earth has never felt such darkness as what Saturn and Serenity are predicting, and it won't survive, Terry." "Rose..." Terry could do nothing to quiet his mistresses' fears. But what was he supposed to do? Tell her everything was going to be alright, when no one knew what the next moment held? She wasn't afraid of her destiny, she was afraid she wouldn't be able to fulfill it. And for a Protector of the Princess, that was worse than any torture. ******************************************************************* Darien still held Serena as they slowly made their way down the street. She was somewhat calmer, allowing more time for cuddling and kisses. "We should get back," Serena said softly. "It's late." Darien nodded in agreement and the two started towards her house. A scream came from behind them and Serena and Darien whipped around just in time to see people running from the movie theater screaming, "MONSTER!" The monster was interesting to say the least. It was a light purple color with red hands and feet. In the center of its' body was a film camera that was shooting film at its' victims. The film wrapped around them and took their energy before letting them collapse to the ground, unconscious. Serena sighed and muttered under her breath, "I swear, I can't go anywhere." She pulled out her communicator and hit the "All Call" button. "Mars here, with Jupiter, Venus and Mercury. What's up, Meatball Head?" Raye said. "Can't go on a date with out causing trouble, brother?" Rose asked as she appeared. "What do you need, Princess?" Michelle piped up. "And Neo-Moon!" Rini exclaimed as she opened her own communicator. "Youmas and movie theaters don't mix," Serena told them. Familiar laugher came to Serena and Darien's ears and Serena sighed. "And Zoisite! Hurry and get here." "Right!" all of them agreed at the same time. Darien held out his hand and smiled a little. "Shall we, My Love?" he asked her. Serena smiled sarcastically back and accepted his hand. "We shall, love." "MOON CELESTIAL POWER!" ******************************************************************* The youma laughed evilly as it drained, yet another, pathetic human. "King Onyxious will be quite pleased with this amount of energy," it hissed to itself. "Stop right there!" an all too familiar voice interrupted the youma. It turned to face Sailor Moon and sneered at her. "I don't think so, Moon Girl! I, youma Cinema, will not allow you to defeat me!" It shot more strips out at Sailor Moon but they were cut in half by a flash of red. "If you lay one finger on Sailor Moon, I will make you pay!" Tuxedo Mask shouted as he landed next to Sailor Moon and placed a hand on her shoulder. Sailor Moon smiled up at him and then went back to the battle. "WORLD SHAKING!" A yellow sphere of light came towards Cinema, but it quickly jumped out of the way. "Who's there?!" it demanded. Rose petals blew in the breeze and Sailor Moon smiled. Looking up, she could see the outline of four women standing on the theater's roof. "My guardian deity is a planet far up in the sky. The soldier of the sky, Sailor Uranus!" "My guardian deity is a planet with the sea of sand. The soldier of embrace Sailor Neptune!" "My guardian deity is a planet floating in time and space. The soldier of revolution, Sailor Pluto." "My guardian deity is the planet of silence, the soldier of death and rebirth, Sailor Saturn!" "We soldiers of the outer solar system are being led by a new crisis and, here we are!" they said together. There was a streak of blue and green as Sailor Earth landed in front of her brother and Princess, soon followed by the other Inners and Neo-Moon. "Do I need an invitation, or can anyone join?" Earth asked with a grin. Cinema growled at them. "More of you doesn't matter! I will kill every last Sailor Soldier of the Moon Kingdom!" There was a small flash of light, and Beryl, Malachite and Zoisite appeared floating slightly behind Cinema. "Make Sailor Moon suffer the most, Cinema!" Beryl ordered. Sailor Moon's eyes opened wide as she saw Beryl. She tried to step back, but Tuxedo Mask stopped her and held her protectively. His eyes darkened as he gazed at the three familiar foes. The others weren't doing much better, looking rather angry themselves. The Outers jumped down and positioned themselves in front of the Inners and their Princess and Prince. "YOU!" Saturn yelled as she held her Silence Glave pointed at Beryl's throat. "What are you doing here?" she demanded. Venus ran forward, holding her Love Chain in her hands. "Forget why she's here. She's here, so let's kill her!" Malachite folded his arms and chuckled. "I actually think you might he interested to know why Beryl is out here." He laughed again and the Sailor Soldiers held their positions. "She was striped of her title, and demoted down to third General!" The twelve Soldiers exchanged looks. Sailor Earth giggled a little. Neo-Moon bit her lip and the Outers smirked at her. Sailor Moon shook her head and Tuxedo Mask chuckled. The Inners burst out laughing. "BERYL!?!?!?!" Mars yelled while clutching her stomach. "Shut up! Cinema! Get them!" Beryl ordered. With that said, the three Generals disappeared into the night. The Soldiers immediately stopped laughing and went back to the battle. "NEO-MOON TIARA MAGIC!" "MARS FIRE IGNITE!" Cinema screamed and dodged the attacks. "You almost hit my camera!" it screamed. "Deadly attack!" There was a bright flash of light, and everyone covered their eyes before looking again, only to find Cinema had disappeared. Uranus kept her eyes alert and then jumped forward when she saw Cinema...sneaking up behind her Princess. "SERENITY!" she screamed as she jumped behind Sailor Moon in an effort to protect her. "URANUS!" Neptune yelled as she started to run towards her partner. There was no scream from Uranus as the energy hit her. Sailor Uranus collapsed to the ground as the other looked on in horror. Sailor Moon fell to the ground beside her, and held Uranus in her arms. Neptune ran up and gazed at Uranus' pale face for a moment before turning angry, tear filled eyes to youma. "SUBMARINE REFLECTION!" The youma covered it's face as the wave of water came forward, but was shocked when nothing happened. A bright blue spot, however, was glowing in it's camera. Knowing what it was, Tuxedo Mask pulled out the Terra Sword and with deadly accuracy, stabbed Cinema through the stomach, and killed her. Sailor Moon shook Uranus' shoulders' as she frantically cried for her. "URANUS! URANUS!" A small crowed of people gathered around the Sailor Soldiers and watched as Sailor Moon desperately tried to awaken her comrade. "WAKE UP!!! Please..." she whispered. "Please." Neptune kneeled down next to Uranus and took her hand. "Amara, you can't leave me," she whispered. "DAMN YOU BERYL!!!" Earth screamed. "DAMN YOU!" There was a small groan from Sailor Uranus and the soldiers dared to hold their breaths as her eyelids slowly fluttered open. "Ow..." she said softly. "YES!" Neo-Moon yelled as she thrust her fist into the air. There were several flashes of light behind the Soldiers and they turned to see several dozen reporters standing behind them. Rolling her eyes, Mars turned around. "If you don't move, I'm going to move you!" "Princess," Uranus whispered, "are you okay?" Sailor Moon nodded and wiped the tears from her eyes. "Why did you do that?" she demanded. Uranus closed her eyes and groaned. She could feel her wound already healing and was more than thankful for that. "Because...my life doesn't matter. As long as you are safe, I can die. Sacrifices are always made, Serenity." "NO!" Sailor Moon yelled. "There isn't a need for sacrifices!" she insisted. "Especially not from my friends!" Saturn stepped forward. "I suggest we discuss this somewhere else, the reporters are getting too nosy." She turned around and gestured to where the Inners and Tuxedo Mask were. One reporter shoved a microphone in Tuxedo Mask's face, "What is your relationship with Sailor Moon? Are you dating? Married?" "What about the little Soldier? Rumor has it she's yours and Sailor Moon's daughter!" Tuxedo Mask closed his eyes and groaned. "Let's get out of here. Mercury, if you please?" Sailor Mercury nodded and stepped up so she was facing all of the reporters. "MERCURY BUBBLES BLAST!" The area was shrouded in a thick mist that cleared thirty seconds later. At that time, the Sailor Soldiers were gone. ******************************************************************* Serena was the last one out of the four Outers home and she closed the door behind her. The others were waiting for her outside, still slightly in shock at Amara's words. "Sacrifices?" Serena said as she shook her head and walked past her friends. "There shouldn't be sacrifices." Darien handed Rini to Rose and jerked his head, signaling the girls to leave. With wary smiles and nods, they left, to go home. As soon as they were out of sight, Darien walked up to Serena and slipped his arms around her waist from behind. "Don't worry, baby," he whispered soothingly. "Everything is going to be alright. We won't let anything happen to anyone." He kissed her neck and leaned his head on her shoulder. Serena didn't say anything, and simply looked to the moon, praying for guidance. ******************************************************************* King Onyxious sat in his throne and watched his minions carefully. The three of them were on their knees before him, begging forgiveness for their actions. "You lost a very powerful youma, Malachite," he said smoothly. "Not only that, you failed to kill Princess Serenity!" Malachite sucked in a breath and closed his eyes. "Yes, My Lord. I will not let it happen again. However, Sailor Uranus has been put out of commission for a little while and-" "Not good enough!" Onyxious spat. "She is irrelevant. If we kill Serenity and Endymion, the entire group will fall right behind. Whether through grief or battle, they will all die." Zoisite looked up for a moment and didn't let Onyxious' cold eyes faze her. "We need to find Sailor Moon's true identity! If we found that out, then we could catch her at anytime, alone." "You don't think I already know that, Zoisite?!" Onyxious snapped. Zoisite bowed down again. "I don't care how you do it, just kill her!" "Of course we will, My Liege," Beryl hissed out. "After all, it's our revenge too." "Yes..." Onyxious mumble to himself. He then grinned and walked out of the throne room. He had his own idea. With a chuckle, he brushed his brown hair out of his eyes and set is plan into action. ******************************************************************* It was dark all around her, and Serenity collapsed to the ground, her energy spent. Metalia was gone, but so were her friends, her love, her mother and her Kingdom. The sealing was complete, and she had done it. Finally completed what her mother started so, so long ago. She smiled as she detransformed into Sailor Moon and felt her life slipping away. "Everyone...thank..." She was cut off as a dark cloud descended upon her. Sailor Moon screamed in pain as the evil energy awoke her again, making death flee far from her. The pain was excruciating and she couldn't stand it. When the cloud was done, it took the shape of a man, who knelt beside her and brushed her hair out of her face. "Hello, Serenity," he whispered, yellow eyes flashing red as his brown hair swayed in the breeze. Sailor Moon was breathing heavily and painfully as he came closer. "Onyxious..." she said, her voice low. "This is a dream." Onyxious stood up. "Oh no, Serenity, this is not a dream." Energy gathered in his hands and he brought it down, close to her stomach. Putting his lips near her ear, he said cruelly into them, "This is a nightmare. They say if you die in your dreams, you don't wake up." Sailor Moon's eyes widened in understanding and she struggled to stand, but to no avail. As Onyxious brought his hand closer to her heart, Sailor Moon squinted her eyes shut, and prayed for a miracle. A silver light came from out of nowhere and blasted Onyxious in the chest, sending him flying. "WHO DID THAT?!" he demanded. There was a small glimmering light behind Sailor Moon as Queen Serenity appeared. Keeping her eyes focused on the King the entire time, she helped her daughter stand. "Good, always triumphs over evil," Serenity said sternly as she and Sailor Moon vanished. Onyxious let out an angry roar and slammed his fists into the ice. He vanished from Serena's dream, cursing Queen Serenity as he did so. ******************************************************************* Serena gasped herself awake and looked around her room, only to find it just as she had left it. Closing her eyes and laying down she sent a thank you to her mother and closed her eyes again, falling back asleep. Darien was sitting on her windowsill and opened his eyes. "Thank you, My Queen," he whispered softly. He had know the moment Onyxious has penetrated Serena's dream, but he was unable to reach her due to the dark energy he was using. He prayed to the moon to save it's child and a soft light has surrounded Serena. He knew it was Queen Serenity, and couldn't thank her enough for helping her when he couldn't. Darien closed his eyes and got comfortable on Serena's window seat. He wasn't leaving her tonight. ******************************************************************* Onyxious pounded his hand into a wall, cracking the wall and causing blood to run from his knuckles. He cursed himself for not fighting the old Queen, but knew what he had to do. "If at first you don't succeed," he whispered, "try, try again." To be continued... Okay, so it seems that this chapter had no relevance to the story, but you are so, so wrong if you think that! Don't forget, everything is revealed in it's own time. I'm trying to wrap this story up by chapter 25, okay? So I can write six more chapters and an epilogue. Sounds good, right? *begins praying* I hope I do it! Thank you everyone for your support. The first chapter of "Truths, Family and Friends," will be out next week. Again, sorry for not getting this out earlier. I did have a good vacation though! LOL, Stef-chan
