Hello! And welcome to chapter 2 of "Truths, Family and Friends." *watches as everyone reading this passes out from shock and thinks that they're either dead or dreaming* Yeah...hee-hee...guess it has been a long time, ne? Just a really long time! Gomen nasai, minna-san! I really am so sorry for not getting this out sooner! And just a warning, I start school Wednesday August 16th, so I won't be writing as much. I'm a Junior this year, yea! *girns* Here's a short re-cap of the last chapter: Darien has begun having the dream of Serena dying and attempts to break up with her. Right when he's about to, he breaks down and decides he can't. Later, they tell the others about the dream and through the Fire, Raye is able to show everyone the dream. Upon seeing what Darien's dream is predicting Luna and Artemis forbade the two from seeing each other. And so the story starts...again! Quote of the Week: "The world and it's philosophers will argue with my statement, but this is what I know. At the age of sixteen, I know why I live. The meaning of life is not to solve humanities problems, or bring peace to the world, but to love. If the world didn't have love in it, then it wouldn't have made it this far. Love brings peace, and solves problems...so are we searching for something that is right in front of us?" - Stefanie Craig. I don't know what I was thinking when I thought this, but I really do like it. :) TRUTHS, FAMILY AND FRIENDS CHAPTER 2 __________Trying to Stay Away From Love__________ Rini kicked the sand as she slowly swung back and forth on the swing she was sitting on. She wasn't putting any power into her movements and could only stare blankly at the ground. She had been there for almost two weeks, and they were still no closer to finding the Silver Crystal. If Serena had it, she was hiding it well. "Rini," Alec's voice interrupted her thoughts. Rini blinked and looked up to see her older brothers' face looking at her with concern. "You've been here for an hour, I think we should go home." Rini shook her head and grasped a chain around her neck tightly. "I don't wanna go back there. Serena hates us! And she doesn't have the Crystal!" she cried. "It's not fair!" Alec narrowed his eyes at Rini. "It was your idea to come back here!" he yelled at her. Rini gasped as she looked up at her brother. His fists were clenched and tears shone in his eyes. "We could be at home with the Sailor Soldiers, but you decided that we had to come back here!" Rini blinked back her own tears and stood up. "What are you talking about?! We need the Silver Crystal to save mommy and the future! And since..." she trailed off, not wanting to finish her sentence. Alec's eyes softened and he hugged his sister. "It's okay, Rini. I'm sorry I yelled. It's just different here then home." "RINI! ALEC!" a panicked voice called from not too far away. The two children looked up in shock and saw Serena running towards them. "Rini! Alec!" she yelled before she spotted them. Running up to them, she stopped and began taking slow, deep breaths. "There you...two...are! I've been looking every where!" she managed out. They didn't answer her, but Serena kept talking. "Come on, you weren't supposed to be gone this long," she leaned down and took Rini's hand, but she immediately pulled away. Serena was startled but just looked sadly at Rini for a moment before turning to Alec. "We have to go," she offered her hand to Alec. "Will you come?" Alec looked at her hand skeptically. Serena smiled at him and kept her hand out. Alec smiled back and tentatively took her hand in his. "Okay," he said softly. Rini narrowed her eyes at Alec. He wasn't like this normally. Rini jumped forward and grabbed Serena's other hand, holding it tightly. "Is it dinnertime?" she asked Serena. "Just about," Serena answered as they started off. "Mom and Dad are going to ground me if we don't get back soon." They walked in comfortable silence for a few minutes before Serena dared to open her mouth. "Who are you two?" she suddenly asked. The two children looked at each other, eyes panicked, and didn't answer. "I won't hurt you. I just want to know who you are, and why my parents think you're my cousins." "We are your cousins, Serena," Alec choked out, suddenly wishing Rini had hypnotized Serena. Shaking her head, Serena stopped smiling. "No, you're not. I know that but...if you want to keep pretending that you are, I don't think there's anything that I can do about it. Just try to stay out of trouble." The two children nodded and then faced forward again. Serena narrowed her eyes slightly as she caught the two children's profiles in the fading sunlight. 'Rini's hair is just like mine...why would she wear that hairstyle? Only my family even knows how to put it up!!' She sighed and looked to Alec. She had lived with the children for more than two weeks but she had never noticed how much he looked like Darien. Serena's eyes widened. 'No...these children couldn't be-' "Serena!" Rini yelled from a head of her. Serena snapped out of her stupor and looked to see the children far a head of her. Sighing, she ran to catch up with them, forgetting about what she had been thinking. ******************************************************************* Darien watched Serena as she led the two children back home. It had been a week since Luna's verdict, and it was killing him inside that he couldn't do anything but watch her from afar. He did see her everyday, but if Luna was around (and she usually was) he couldn't come with in ten feet of Serena with out her reminding him to stay away. Needless to say, his life was officially a living hell. He was doing everything he could to see her. He went so far as to sitting at her window at night. It was the same every night. He would arrive at eleven thirty, and watch her sleep. He prayed every night that Luna wouldn't wake up and see him. He watched as the two children often came into Serena's room and slept in her bed. It was quite comical watching three people trying to sleep in a twin-sized bed. Darien turned around and began to walk back to his house but stopped suddenly. "I had a feeling you would do this, Darien," Raye said with no emotion in her voice. Stopping and turning, Darien came face to face with the Soldier of Fire. "Raye! Please don't-" Raye shook her head. "I'm as scared for her as you are...though I'm not sure if the dreams are true or not, I don't think that you two being apart is the answer. I won't tell Luna or Artemis, Mina would kill me, but just try and be more discreet about it, kay?" She winked as she walked off. Darien smiled at her as she walked off. 'Thank you, Raye.' ******************************************************************* Rubeus studied the over-view map of Tokyo and frowned. "Catsy, come here!" he called to the thin air. As soon as her name was called, Catsy appeared behind Rubeus. "Yes, Rubeus?" she asked. The map zoomed up on a small boating marina in one of Tokyo's parks. "This is the next Crystal Point that I need you to take over, Catsy. It's a small boating marina in the center of Tokyo Park. I expect you to work quickly on it," he said with a slight hint of anger at her for failing her last mission. Catsy gulped and nodded. "Yes sir. I won't fail you this time, Rubeus!" Rubeus turned away and walked up to a mirror, preparing to exit the room. "You had better. For your own sake." ******************************************************************* Rini and Alec bounced Luna P back and forth to each other with no real effort in their game. They had arrived back at the Tsukino house a few minuets before dinner had started and Serena had gotten in trouble for keeping them out so late. They had snickered quietly when they saw her getting punished, but stopped as soon as she nodded yes and murmured something about it never happening again before walking to the table and setting it. As soon as dinner was over, they had asked permission to go to the park, insisting they go alone. They were big enough. It hadn't taken much convincing, surprisingly, and the two children had bolted as fast as their short legs had been able to carry them. And that's where they still were. At the park, aimlessly bouncing the Luna P back and forth, back and forth. Neither of them had said a word about Serena's strange behavior. But when they had first come, Serena had always insisted it wasn't her fault and that they ran away from her when she took them anywhere. It was the truth, but they weren't about to tell that to Auntie Ilene! Over the past two weeks, something slowly began to change. Serena's eyes no longer held the fire they used to and she no longer argued with her parents about when she lost her cousins. Alec sighed and caught Luna P. "I wonder what changed so suddenly?" he whispered as he clutched the small toy close to his chest. Rini looked up at him in shock and blinked. "I mean, she's been getting sadder and sadder since we arrived and that Darien guy seems to come around a lot less too." He furrowed his brow. "Could that be the reason?" Rini sighed, used to her brother's logic. Her mother would always shake her head at him and tell him that if he thought too much he'd end up a geek like her father. Of course, her father was always in the room when she said that and would start chasing her mother around, demanding she take it back. Rini smiled at the memory. That had actually happened a few days before.... "Maybe you're right, Alec," Rini said softly as she broke off her own thoughts. Rini reached and took her brothers hand, and she offered her silent comfort to him as he did to her. Alec handed Rini Luna P and they continued to walk towards the center of the park in silence. Ten minuets later they stopped and gazed in awe at a beautiful structure. It looked like just about any other building in Tokyo, but beyond the walls they could see tall, proud masts of ships. "It's a Maraina!" Rini exclaimed. Alec rolled his eyes. "That's Marina, dork!" he told his younger sibling. Rini blushed and scowled at him. "I knew that! I was just testing you!" "Were not!" Alec shot back, actually happy that they were reverting to their normal way of dealing with each other. "Were too!" "WERE NOT!" "TOO!" "NOT!" "TOO!" "NOTNOTNOTNOTNOTNOTNOTNOTNOTNOT!" "TOO, TIMES INFINITY!! There! There's no higher number so I win!" Alec exclaimed in triumph. Rini glared at him and then looked back to what she could see of the tall ships. "Maybe we can come here tomorrow! We can ask Serena! Or Darien!" Alec nodded, his black hair falling in his eyes. "Yeah...that'd be fun." ******************************************************************* Catsy floated over the top of the Marina and sighed. "What a pathetic place. I suppose I should start. Rubeus will be angry if I put this off any longer." Catsy floated down to the ground and stepped through the door, literally, and began her procedure. ******************************************************************* "Mom! I'm supposed to be going out with the girls today!" Serena half-whined, half-reasoned to her mother. "I do not care! You are going to take them or you are grounded!" Ilene yelled at her daughter. "Yes, ma'am..." Serena muttered as she grabbed her purse and stalked out side to where Alec and Rini were sitting with Luna. "Come on, you two!" she said in a fake cheerful voice. "I'm taking you to the Marina today!" "Yea!" both Rini and Alec chimed at the same time as they jumped up. Serena sighed. "Yeah...yea..." she muttered as she took each of the children's hands, albeit, with much protesting from Rini. Luna hopped up onto her mistress' shoulder and took a free ride. She couldn't let Serena be alone, especially not with Rini and Alec, two Dark Moon targets, with her. ******************************************************************* Darien wiped the steam off of the mirror and gazed into it with little interest. He pressed his hand against the glass and sighed. "It's so hard being away from you, Serena. I can only watch you from afar now." Sighing again, Darien left the room and got dressed. He was about to venture out for the day when he opened the door and saw Lita and Mina poised outside, ready to ring the doorbell. "Oh, hey there, Darien!" Lita greeted with a grin. Darien blinked and then smiled slightly. "Hello, you two. Is there something I can do for you?" he asked. Mina grinned, albeit a little evilly, and answered. "Actually...I have it on good authority that Serena is taking Rini and Alec to the Marina in the center of the park. And with *two* Dark Moon targets, we *really* shouldn't let them be *alone,*" Mina emphasized. Darien's smile widened significantly. "Yes, I really don't think that's a good idea." Darien grabbed his green jacket and ran out the door. "Thank you!" he called over his shoulder as he entered the elevator and rode down the stairs. Lita leaned up against the doorframe as Mina closed the door and they began to walk down to the elevators. "I know that Luna and Artemis are only looking out for the Prince and Princess, but I really don't think that this is the best way to keep them safe." "I know," Mina sighed. "It's barely keeping the two of the sane. And while Serena has us...Darien doesn't really have anyone. We're trying to be with both of them, but they don't need us." "They need each other," the two girls finished together as the elevator doors closed and they rode downstairs in silence. 'And besides...my instincts as the Goddess of Love tell me this is right. We need to keep them together,' Mina said to herself. ******************************************************************* Serena, Rini and Alec looked around the Marina in awe. It was beautifully constructed with several large boats at each of the piers. It wasn't a huge establishment, but it was big enough for being in a park. Plus they had an activities center inside the building. Serena breathed deeply and bent down so she was at the two children's level. "So, do you guys want to ride a boat or go to the aquarium inside?" she asked them. "The boats!" Alec and Rini exclaimed at the same time. "Alright then!" Serena smiled as she walked to the ticket booth. "Serena," Luna whispered from her shoulder as soon as they were out of earshot of the two children. "I'm going to stay here, inside. It's hot and well...I don't do well on boats." "That's okay, Luna," Serena told her as Luna jumped off of her shoulder and slipped inside. "We'll be find with out you." "Especially since I'll be here with you," a voice whispered into her ear. Serena gasped and whirled around. "Darien!" she exclaimed as she threw her arms around her boyfriend's neck. Darien wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her close to him. "Darien, I've missed you so much. We can only see each other from afar..." Darien leaned down and gently kissed Serena's lips. "I know, Serena, I know." "Serena!" Rini whined. "Have you got the tickets yet?" she called as she and Alec ran up to her and Darien. "Hi there, Darien!" "Hello, you two," Darien greeted. "And don't worry, I've got your tickets," he told them as he held up four pieces of paper. "We're going on a boat that takes us all the way around the lake where we'll get off and eat lunch. Does that sound okay?" "Yeah!" the other three exclaimed, causing Darien to laugh. Putting an arm around Serena's shoulders, and taking Rini's hand while Serena took Alec's, Darien led them to the docks where the boat was waiting. ******************************************************************* Catsy smiled as she watched her minions, humans occupied with her energy, rush about the small ship doing everything she commanded. 'A girl could get used to this type of service!' she thought with an evil smirk. She stood tall in her captains' uniform and glanced around the boat. It was lunchtime, and she heard that only four tickets had been sold for the next cruise. Grinning, she remembered where all the other people who had come on this particular boat were, and knew that it would be easy to convince only four to get off on the other side. "Come on, you guys!" a small child's voice called from the plank that led to the ship. Catsy watched a small girl, about five years old, rushed up and stopped when she reached the deck. Soon after her a boy about six joined her and they both looked around in awe. Catsy's eyes got impossibly wide as she recognized the two children. 'It just can't be! I couldn't get *this* lucky! Oh, is Rubeus going to be happy when he hears that I captured a Crystal Point and those two brats!' "Hey!" she looked down and saw the girl with pink hair, Rini she remembered her name being, tugging on her pant's leg. "When are we going?" she asked. Catsy smiled cruelly. "As soon as the other two passenger's come, deary." Serena and Darien suddenly ran up the ramp and saw the two children. "Rini! Alec!" Darien yelled. "What do you think you're doing? You could have gotten lost!" "Well, you must be the other two passengers," Catsy said to Serena and Darien, who were busy scolding the two children. "We'll be leaving now." Serena watched the Captain walk away and furrowed her brow. "Darien...doesn't she look familiar to you?" she inquired. Darien looked up and watched Catsy. "Yes...she does. Who is she?" "I don't know." ******************************************************************* Rini looked at the scenery around her with a huge smile on her face. She'd never seen this part of Tokyo park, and it thrilled her. There were ducks and even geese on the lake. She could see the other side of the lake and knew that they were going to dock soon. "Hey, Rini?" Alec whispered to his sister. "What is it, Alec?" she asked as she turned to look at her brother. Alec's sky blue eyes were filled with worry as he answered. "That woman...she looks just like Catsy from the Dark Moon!" he told her in a slightly panicked voice. Rini looked at the Captain and rolled her eyes. "Yeah, right, Alec! She can't be...could she?!" she asked. The ship suddenly shuddered to a halt and the two children grabbed onto each other to keep balance. "Why did we stop?" Alec muttered as he looked and saw that they were at a dock, but not at the dock they were supposed to be. "Why are we here?" Darien asked the "Captain" cautiously. The "Captain" laughed. "Because...I need you miserable, pathetic humans to be filled with dark energy!" she cried out as she changed from her captain's outfit to her normal tutu and tights outfit. "The two of you shall complete me taking over this Crystal Point! And I shall take the two brats back to Rubeus!" she announced as she held her hands out. Serena swore under her breath and grabbed Alec, as Darien grabbed Rini, and ran off the boat. "Great!" Serena hissed sarcastically as she and Darien ran to a small grove of trees. Exchanging a look over the children's heads', and they set them down. "Okay, you two stay here and don't make a sound!" Serena ordered. The two children nodded silently and huddled closer together in the small bush they were in. Darien took Serena's hand and they rushed off. As they were running, Serena pulled out her new, white, communicator and began to give the others directions to where they were. ******************************************************************* Catsy floated down where she saw the small group run and sighed. "Great, now I have to look for them. This day can't get any wo-" "MOON TIARA MAGIC!" A disk of light spiraled towards Catsy and slashed her arm. Catsy cried out and held her hand. "What was that?!" she cried out as she looked around and saw no one. "That was me!" a now beginning to be familiar voice called out. "Not you..." she muttered under her breath as she turned to find the small figure of Sailor Moon and the tall silhouette of Tuxedo Mask behind her. "I should have know you would come!" Sailor Moon's face didn't change. "You should have, you would have, you didn't!" Catsy scowled at her. "Well, no use in me breaking a nail over you, Droid First Mate!" she called. A tall droid made of water and wearing a sailor suit appeared beside Catsy. "Get rid of those two, and find the two brats when you're done!" she commanded as she disappeared. "Yes, madam," the droid responded. It turned to face the two heroes and grinned. With a roar, water erupted out of its' hands and headed straight for them. Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask dodged in opposite directions as the water crushed the ground where they had just been. They looked at where they had been standing and gave silent thanks for jumping out of the way in time. "TUXEDO LA SMOKING BOMBER!" A bright, white-blue light encompassed the area and slammed into the droid, sending it flying into a nearby tree. Slowly, the droid stood up and faced the two warriors angrily. As it was about to lunge at them, an attack sounded through the small field. "MERCURY BUBBLES BLAST!" The droid looked around and saw nothing around it. After a few seconds, the smoke cleared and six warriors stood where two once were. The droid glared and powered up, sending a gigantic spray of water towards them. "MARS FIREBIRD STRIKE!" The flames were quickly extinguished and kept coming. "Look out!" Jupiter yelled as she jumped out of the way and pulled Venus with her. "VENUS CRESCENT BEAM SMASH!" The light beam went right through the droid who smiled evilly. "Okay, that can't be good..." Venus murmured. Mercury looked around. She could feel inside of her, the power that Luna had recently given her, given all of them. It would help, even if only a little bit. "MERCURY ICE STORM BLAST!" (AN: This was the first dub name for Shine Aqua Illusion, I like it, so this is what it is. Not that I don't like Aqua Illusion better, but this is dub.) The warriors watched in amazement as the droid became frozen solid. "Whoa...cool new attack, Mercury!" Jupiter exclaimed as she powered down slightly. "Those new pens of Luna's must work really well!" Venus exclaimed with slight glee. Sailor Moon nodded, remembering when she got her own power up, and pulled out her Scepter. "MOON SCEPTER ELIMINATION!" The frozen droid seemed to look at the oncoming attack in fear before it was disintegrated into dust. Sailor Moon let out her breath and smiled at her friends. "Great new attack, Mercury! Congratulations!" she said with glee. "Yes, that's great and all, but how did you get here so fast, Tuxedo Mask?" Luna asked as she came up from behind the girls. Tuxedo Mask looked away from Luna, and didn't answer. He could lie to just about anyone, but Luna was one of the few er...people he couldn't lie to. "I thought so! You're following her, aren't you?! DO YOU WANT HER TO DIE, PRINCE?!" Luna demanded from Tuxedo Mask. Tuxedo Mask grit his teeth together. "You try it Luna! YOU TRY TO STAY AWAY FROM THE PERSON YOU LOVE!" he yelled back. Luna took a step back in shock and everyone looked to Tuxedo Mask, wide- eyed. A small crowed had gathered and they were taking pictures of the scene, but none of the Soldier's cared. "I'm trying, I really am, but I can't leave her alone!" Luna sighed. "I know this is hard for both of you...but you must-" Luna stopped suddenly, as she heard the small sound of crying coming from the bushes. "Shoot," Sailor Moon whispered under her breath. "Rini and Alec!" She and Tuxedo Mask ran to the place they had left the children, with the others close behind. "Rini, Alec," Sailor Moon whispered as she bent down and saw that Rini was sniffling and trying to wipe away her tears. "Are you both all right?" she asked. Alec looked up at Sailor Moon and bravely nodded. "Of course!" he exclaimed with false cheerfulness. "But...where are Serena and Darien?" he asked as he looked around. Mars and Mercury exchanged looks. Venus walked over to the nearest tree and began hitting her head on the trunk while Jupiter restrained herself from strangling the child. "Don't worry, Alec," Tuxedo Mask told him, "I know they're fine." Rini wiped her nose and blinked. "Really?" "Of course." ******************************************************************* "I DON'T BELIEVE YOU! YOUR OWN DREAMS ARE PREDICTING HER DEATH AND YOU STILL SEE HER! ENDYMION, I DON'T CARE IF YOU'RE THE PRINCE, YOU CAN NOT BE AROUND HER UNLESS IT'S IN BATTLES!" Luna screamed at Darien in his apartment. Artemis sighed. "You really don't need to yell, Luna," he told her as he placed a paw on her shoulder. "Take some deep breaths. Calm down." Luna took several deep breaths and Artemis turned to Darien, who was sitting on his couch, obviously trying to contain his anger. "I do have to agree with her, Darien. You *are* predicting her demise, and we can't figure out the nature of these dreams. They could very well be a threat to our Princess from an outside force." "I can't Artemis," Darien said softly. "I just can't stay away from her! It's impossible!" he told him with a tear in his eye. Artemis jumped up and stood on Darien's coffee table. "I know, Darien. But please, for her sake, don't go near her." Darien looked away from the white cat and sighed. "I...I can't promise anything. I can't promise something I can't keep." ******************************************************************* "So you failed again, Catsy?" a man sitting on a throne asked. Catsy and Rubeus were kneeling in a dark room, obviously a throne room, and struggling to keep their cool. Catsy swallowed hard. "Yes, Prince Diamond. I-those Sailor Soldiers keep showing up. They seem to be protecting the young Prince and Princess. I can't get close enough to them." Prince Diamond took a sip of his brandy and looked over Catsy carefully. "No excuse. Those girls should be no trouble for you and your powers, Catsy." "Prince, you don't understand!" Rubeus interrupted. Diamond turned to glare at him before he continued. "Sailor Moon is still alive in this time!" Prince Diamond gave a small start. "Sailor Moon? You mean the legends are true?" he asked. "It would seem that way, Prince," a raspy voice from the side of Diamond said. The Wiseman appeared before all in the room, his hands moving around his crystal ball. "The legendary Sailor Soldier of the Moon is alive in this time. She displays incredible power and also seems very protective of the children." Prince Diamond stood up and paced slightly. "Sailor Moon...every warrior alive has wanted to meet the one who could destroy Metalia of the Negaverse. You should consider yourself honored to meet such a warrior. Especially since she is no longer alive in Crystal Tokyo." Prince Diamond smiled slightly and shook his head. "A pity. Destroy her. She's in the way, just like all the others." "Yes, Prince," Catsy and Rubeus replied together. ******************************************************************* Serena pulled the covers up to Rini's chin and smiled at her. She was so peaceful when she was asleep. But then again, even people from the Dark Forces probably looked peaceful while sleeping. "Sleep well, Child. No one deserves to go through what you are." "Serena?" a timid voice whispered from behind her. Serena turned around and saw Alec standing there. "What is it, Alec?" she asked with a smile. Alec bit his lip and walked up to her. "Are you sure that you're okay? You didn't get hurt earlier did ya?" he asked. Serena shook her head. "No, I'm fine. But...do you want to tell me why that woman was after you and Rini?" she inquired. Alec looked down. And he didn't answer. Serena sighed and shook her head. "I don't understand. I don't think I ever will until you both open up to me. What ever you're hear for...not even the Sailor Soldiers can help until you tell them something." Alec climbed into Serena's bed next to his sister. "I'm sorry... Serena." Serena sighed and looked sat down on her window seat. Just as she looked out the window she saw a piece of black fabric flutter in the breeze. She walked over to the side and opened her balcony door. (AN: She is shone having a window seat in the earlier seasons, and later she has a balcony, so I'm using both.) Sitting on the balcony was a single, perfect, red rose. To be continued...
