TRUTHS, FAMILY AND FRIENDS CHAPTER 10 __________Dawn Before Destruction__________ Sailor Moon thought she had gotten all the shocks for that day, or two days according to how long they had been gone, but this last one... Sailor Moon's knees became weak as she glanced at the young man before them. His hair was the color of her late mothers, and her boyfriends, his face shaped in just the way that made him look like the man standing beside her, but also not. He was smiling at them. The way he smiled made Sailor Moon's knees even weaker. "Alec?" Sailor Moon whispered. The man's blue eyes became even darker at the mention of the name, and he all but spit on the ground near Sailor Moon's feet. Mars and Mercury pushed their families back, knowing that this couldn't be Alec. Or at least they prayed it wasn't him. "Don't call me that again, that's no longer my name, Serena," "Alec" hissed at her. "I am Dark Lord." "Dark Lord?" Tuxedo Mask questioned. "Alec, it is you, isn't it?" Dark Lord narrowed his eyes at Tuxedo Mask. "I told you, that's not my name anymore! Not since I realized how little I'm truly cared for, and even worse, how much Rini hates her parents." Rini gasped, not quite understanding what he was saying. "After all, it was her fault that Crystal Tokyo ended up as it did. All because she wanted the Crystal. Selfishness. It's human nature." Dark Lord watched as Rini visibly paled and the others glanced at her, seemingly unbelieving. Rini tightened her jaw and glared at her older brother. "I don't hate mommy and daddy! I never could!" she told him forcefully. "Rini, don't make him mad," Sailor Moon whispered as she pushed the child behind her. "He's angry enough to kill." Alec's eyes went darker than ever and he raised both of his hands above his head. "I have the Dark Crystal's power inside of me, I have two missions. I want to finish one of those missions quickly." He leapt forward and was suddenly in front of Sailor Moon. Sailor Moon clenched her fists, and Dark Lord seemed surprised that she didn't raise her hand to fight against him. "Please, this isn't who you are, Alec!" she whispered as tears threatened. Dark Lord's eyes flashed and Sailor Moon flew backwards into several of her friends. He walked over so that he was standing over her. "I'm the enemy, why don't you fight?" "I won't fight you!" Sailor Moon yelled. "I can't, you're Alec!" The Soldiers helped her stand and, trying to be casual about it, they stepped in front of her, and Tuxedo Mask went to her side. This wasn't Alec. He raised his eyebrows at the Soldiers. "I don't want to fight you, you will be no challenge to me." "We don't want to be a challenge, Alec," Mars assured him. "Who did this to you?" "Dark Lord," a voice hissed from behind. Everything stopped when that voice spoke. It was chilling, almost snake like, and it hurt to hear. Dark Lord frowned slightly and turned around. "Wiseman, why are you here?" The Wiseman's composition only faltered slightly before he spoke again. "Our plan includes killing those who have harmed you, but not yet. Let them live, I wish to see them try and save this world." If a grin could have shown on his face, it would have. "Prince Diamond also would like to see Sailor Moon again, we'll let him take care of her." Sailor Moon drew back into Tuxedo Mask's arms, and he held her closer than ever to him, glaring at the Wiseman. "If he touches her, I'll kill him." Dark Lord laughed. "I would very much love to see you try, Darien. I really would," he laughed again and disappeared. Sailor Moon took a deep shuddering breath before simply collapsing in Tuxedo Mask's arms. ***************************************************************** Raye sat down across from her grandfather and Chad and took the tea that was sitting by her seat. She and her friends and family sat in silence, slowly digesting the information that they had just received. The silence was deafening, and everyone was trying to figure out the same thing. What had happened to Alec. Between the trauma of what had happened with Diamond the day before, her future, and now her son, she was emotionally drained, not to mention physically from the Dark Energy. Darien was with her in Raye's room. Rini decided to stay out with the Soldiers, especially since she was still absorbing that her mother and father were really Serena and Darien. "Wiseman..." Lita whispered from her leaning position. "What is he?" Mina looked up and then turned to the small child sitting beside her, "Rini, do you know?" Rini slowly shook her head from one side to the other. "Mommy once told us a story about a man who brought back evil, but she didn't know what he was." Grandpa set his tea down in front of himself. "Perhaps Raye should consult the fire on why young Alec has suddenly turned from the light. It could reveal something." "I doubt it," Amy countered. "The chances are that the Wiseman used some sort of reverse psychology on Alec, and convinced him that Rini was responsible for the Queen's injuries and his own pain." Rini stiffened ever so slightly at the memory. "The only thing that will help is, most likely, his parents." Mina lowered her eyes. "Ms. Mizuno, have you told the rest of our parents about our secret?" Jamie shook her head. "I was planning on doing it tonight, but now it seems unnecessary. I don't know how you will explain the disappearance-" "LUNA-P CHANGE!" Rini exclaimed as she bounced her small ball. In her hand an umbrella appeared; it was what she had used to convince Ilene and Kent that she was their niece. "Don't worry, I can do that." Mina nodded and turned towards the hallway. "But what about Serena and Darien?" ***************************************************************** Darien rubbed his temples and sighed. It was all he had been doing for the past hour while Serena finally slept off the Dark energy and the stress that had been plaguing her, not to mention him, for the past day or two. He was lying down beside her in bed, loosely holding her around the waist. In his mind, all he could see was his son, or a man who looked and claimed to be his son, hitting Serena and sending her crashing into the Soldiers. He hugged Serena tighter around the waist and thought of his young daughter in the other room. He didn't know what Alec had meant, but he was going to find out. Something about the way he was acting, blaming everyone else wasn't right. Other than the obvious that he was brainwashed, there was something lying underneath it all, and the more he didn't want to think about it, the more he worried. In his arms, Serena groaned and rolled over, towards Darien, and curled inside his arms, bringing herself closer. Darien gave a sigh and rolled off the bed. Running a hand through his hair, he pulled the covers up over Serena and sat down on his knees next to her. He didn't know when he fell asleep, but when he woke up, he was back in the bed with Serena's arms tightly around his waist. He smiled at her and adjusted his shirt slightly before closing his eyes again. ***************************************************************** Dark Lord frowned and leaned up against one of the dark pillars that decorated the ship they were in. He watched as the Wiseman and Prince Diamond fought over how they were going to invade earth of the past. Diamond wanted it to be slowly and quietly, so as not to alert any of the authorities, or the Soldiers for that matter, while the Wiseman, being so confident that they could win, wanted to take over as soon as possible, and kill the Soldiers, except for Sailor Moon, of course. After nearly forty-five minutes of senseless arguing, Dark Lord pounded his fist into the pillar behind him. "Enough!" he roared. "I am going to have to agree with Wiseman, the quicker we get in and destroy this miserable planet, the quicker we'll be able to take control." Sapphire frowned as he watched Dark Lord. 'If he really is Prince Alexander than...he wants to kill his own parents.' He shook his head in disgust and walked out of the room as they began to talk of plans to take over the world. (AN: What are we gonna do tomorrow night, Brain?) He sighed and looked out a window and saw Juuban Park. Casting a glance behind him, he changed his clothes with a thought and disappeared down to the park, not noticing the pair of glittering eyes behind him. ***************************************************************** Sapphire smiled and looked around the park. Taking a deep breath, he inhaled the clean air of the twentieth century and smiled. He smiled an honest, true, smile. The air was clean. "I don't want to destroy this part of the Earth," he mused to himself. He watched as children ran by, older couples held on to each other and smiled to him, and he smiled back slightly. He strolled down to a small lake near the center of the park and sat down on the bank. The sun was a sinking egg yolk above the lake and it bathed the area around him in a glowing warmth. "Beautiful..." he whispered. "It is, isn't it?" a soft voice said from behind him. Sapphire didn't turn around, and simply nodded. "I come here every day, because I am reminded that there was once a time where I didn't know this beauty...and that there are so many others who don't know it." Sapphire smiled and turned around. "I know many people like that as well-" He stopped suddenly when he was the face before him. Her green hair was pulled into a tight bun and she wore a light purple and white business suit. "Prisma?" Prisma smiled. "Hello, Sapphire. I didn't think that Prince Diamond would send you to apprehend us. I was expecting Emerald, at the most," she whispered as she sat down by him. "Emerald's dead. Sailor Moon killed her," Sapphire nearly spat. "She was a fool who didn't even try to move from her own death." Prisma turned her head up to the fading sun. "Maybe she realized what I did, that we were going to lose and that it wasn't worth it." She had expected Sapphire to respond with some form of an argument, but when he didn't, she almost felt afraid that he really was there to take them back. "If only Diamond could see that." "The Prince will see what I want him to see, Sapphire," the Wiseman hissed as he appeared behind the two. Sapphire and Prisma stood and faced the "man" before them, Sapphire putting himself in front of Prisma because he knew she was powerless. "Or rather, what the Death Phantom wants him to see." "Death Phantom?" Prisma whispered. "I knew it..." Sapphire hissed. "I knew you weren't helping Diamond." Power cackled around the Wiseman's hands and Prisma's eye grew wide. She tentatively reached for Sapphire's hand and gripped it tight. "Run when I say..." she whispered. As the Wiseman's power reached it's peak, Sapphire gripped Prisma's hand and instead of running, they disappeared, leaving the Wiseman floating by the side of the shore. "Pity, I will have to hunt them all down now." ***************************************************************** Sapphire and Prisma appeared in one place that Prisma wouldn't have expected, Raye's home, the Cherry Hill Temple. "I'm glad you brought us here," she told him as she let go of his hand. "Why?" Sapphire asked. Prisma smiled, she had always been able to trust Sapphire, and now they had some semblance of proof that the Wiseman was not to be trusted. Now she knew he could trust him with her friends. "Because, this is where Sailor Mars lives." Stunned for a moment, Sapphire glanced at her. "You know the identities of the Sailors?" "Yeah..." she drawled as she dragged Sapphire up the flights of stairs. When the reached the top, she opened the sliding door and called into the house. "Raye! Raye it's Prisma, are you there?" ***************************************************************** Raye looked up as she heard her name being called from the other room, followed by an announcement that it was Prisma. "Okay, at least it's someone we can trust. Come on in, Prisma!" Raye called as she stood to open the door. Raye was shocked as a man with blue hair walked into the room after Prisma. "Who is-" Rini's eyes became wide when she saw the face standing behind Prisma. "MOMMY DADDY!" she called when she saw him. Darien stumbled into the room, breathing hard. "What is it, Rini?" he asked. Prisma put her hand up. "No Rini, it's okay. He's with me, he won't hurt you." "Who is he?" Darien demanded. Sapphire stepped forward and took a deep breath, knowing that the man before him could kill him if he so desired. "My name is Sapphire, I'm second in command of the Dark Moon and I am Prince Diamond's brother." Silence filled the room, even from those who weren't exactly sure who Prince Diamond was. Serena stepped out of the same door that Darien had, though still looking a little tired, and sat down on the couch. "If you're so high in rank," Lita began as she got into a good position to rush him if she needed, "than why are you here?" "My brother has been betrayed, but he doesn't know it yet," Sapphire told her. "I never agreed with what he has been doing, I even tried to get him to return Serenity that time, but he's blinded by the Wiseman's own thirst of blood." "Wiseman...Isn't that the man who took Alec?" Mina asked. "Yes, I don't know how, the Prince always struck me as being stronger than that." Rini whimpered and Serena quickly took her in her arms. She whispered something in the child's ear and Darien sat down beside her. "What do you want from us than?" Sapphire took a deep breath. "I need to get to my brother and tell him what Wiseman told me, before both our planets come to ruin because of him. But if I go on my own, I won't be able to defend against the Wiseman-" Raye snorted and leaned against the wall. "You're asking us to talk into a trap!" "Raye," Grandpa scolded her, "let the man speak." He, Chad and Jamie had been quiet during the conversation, mostly because they didn't understand, but also because they knew their opinions would be based on logic, not experience. A beeping interrupted the tense mood and Amy grabbed her computer. "Guys, I don't think we have a choice...there's a large disturbance of Dark Energy in down town Tokyo." "The Wiseman and Dark Lord must have convinced Diamond to take the direct method than." Sapphire turned to Serena and Darien. "Your Majesties, I beg of you to help me!" Serena slowly nodded and stood up. She set her daughter down where she had been sitting and reached for her locket. Darien touched her arm and Serena looked down to him. "Are you healed enough to fight?" he whispered. Serena smiled and leaned down to kiss his cheek. "Never been better!" She looked at Jamie and Grandpa. "When the others get here...we'll need a good cover up story as to why we're gone again and where we've been. Think you can cover for us?" "Have before," Jamie told Serena with a smile. "I'll call my sisters," Prisma suggested. "The more of us there to tell Diamond, the more likely he'll believe us." "Let's go!" Mina announced. ***************************************************************** Dark Lord watched as the five Dark Crystal's around Tokyo supplied power to the larger one in the center of Tokyo's Juuban district. He smiled. "Revenge on this hateful planet and my...sister," he spat the word as though it tasted bad, "for all they have done. Revenge on all those who weren't strong enough." Diamond appeared behind Dark Lord. "You truly hate this planet now and would bring our world here to destroy it. I find it almost hard to believe." "They don't care, so why should I?" Dark Lord asked. Diamond saw a small group of mostly girls walking towards them. His eyes focused on the one in the center. "Well, seems they are here to try and stop us." "I'll take care of them." Towards the back of the group, Diamond saw his brother and the four Strange Sisters. "No, I think I am the one who must see them, Dark Lord." Diamond crossed his arms and vanished from the top of the Dark Crystal. ***************************************************************** Sapphire stopped and the four sisters also held their positions. Sailor Moon turned around and studied them for a moment. "Aren't you coming?" "No," Sapphire said with a shake of his head. "I don't want to endanger your mission. My brother is on his way and you did just as you said you would, you got me here safely." Sailor Moon smiled. "Good luck." "To us both, Serenity." The group of five watched as a circle was formed with Tuxedo Mask and Rini in the center. Rini had insisted on coming, saying that it was her fault Alec was the way he was and that she would die if they failed anyway. There was a flash of light, and they were gone, inside the Dark Crystal and most likely on their way to death. A wave washed over Sapphire and the girls and they turned to face Prince Diamond. He had a look on his face that was a cross between anger, sadness and betrayal. "You're with the enemy now, Sapphire?" "Diamond, please, listen to what we have to say! The Wiseman isn't an ally!" Sapphire told him. Diamond frowned on his former troops, but Avery spoke up. "He's telling the truth. Wiseman only wants this planet for his own selfish needs, he'll kill you, Diamond!" "Please, listen to us," Catsy pleaded. "We're telling the truth." "Diamond, Wiseman tried to kill Sapphire and I earlier today," Prisma explained. "If he had just been going for me, I would have thought nothing of it, but Sapphire has always been loyal!" "Traitors!" Wiseman yelled as he appeared behind Sapphire. "You are coming against the Prince in hopes to destroy our mission." His hand filled with black energy and headed straight for Sapphire. Sapphire heard his name called by Prisma, but after that...nothing. ***************************************************************** Inside the Dark Crystal, Sailor Moon shivered, but ignored the feeling in her stomach. Mercury was scanning the inside of the Crystal and sighed as her visor came up with insufficient data for the fifth time. She closed down her visor and computer with another sigh. "Let's just go, this place is a maze and my computer isn't helping." "Rini, hold my hand," Sailor Moon instructed the girl. Rini nodded and took her mothers' hand. She swallowed hard, fear building in her stomach as she remembered why she was there instead of safe and at home with her grandparents. She let out a shaky breath and the group continued on, circled around Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask in an effort to protect them from what ever lay ahead. There was a flash of light and what would seem to be a door opened up in front of them. "Mercury?" Jupiter questioned. Mercury took out her computer and studied the anomaly before them. It reeked of dark power, but if her readings were right, Alec was on the other side. "Alec is in there," Sailor Moon whispered. "We have to go, we have to save him!" Without further ado, Sailor Moon ran from the others and stepped through the portal. "WAIT SERENA!" Tuxedo Mask called as he followed her. Shrugging, the five remaining ran after them and arrived at the top of the large Crystal. Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask were in front of them, and above them...the man that used to be Alec. "Greetings," Dark Lord purred. "I hope you have enjoyed the ride thus far. The Wiseman will be here to join me soon, he just has to take care of Prince Diamond and his brother." His already too dark eyes flashed black and he smiled. "But before that happens, your bodies will be sacrificed to the Death Phantom, and he will bring darkness upon this world." To be continued... Gomen nasai for taking so freaking long! But as I said, one more chapter then the Epilogue and BAM! Truths is done! I have had requests for up to a Stars sequel on this, but after F&F is done, I'm gonna let Truths rest for a while. I have many more fanfics that I would like to get out and work on! And as for what happened to Sapphire and Diamond? *grins* Guess you'll have to wait and see!
