Summery: Serena learning how to drive. Sailor Moon “Lessons in the Art of Driving” By: NeoMoon She gripped the wheel, breathing in deeply as she ran her fingers across. She took off the parking braking brake, and slowly put her foot on the gas, and felt the car jerk under her. She let out a small gasp as the car did this and started forward. She heard the man in the passenger’s side sighing, and turned her head slightly to see him shaking his. “Sorry.” She said meekly, turning the wheel slightly to attempt a turn. “Serena, watch the curb.” Darien shouted out. “Watch the . . .” Too late, Serena could hear, not to mention feel the car scraping up onto the curb. She squinted her eyes at the sound, ashamed at she had messed up already. She looked over at her love hoping for some guidance, but found that his head was buried in his heads repeating, “I just it paid it, I just paid it off.” “Hey!” She screamed at him. He turned to her, a wary look on his face. “Alright, put your foot on the brake.” “Okay, next?” “Now put the gear into reverse.” “Okay, next?” “And back off the curb slowly.” “Okay!” She said cheerfully taken her foot off the brake, and pressing on the gas.” “Serena, don’t . . .” Her body shook as the car hit the other curb. “I said slowly!” “Don’t yell at me!” She screamed back at him. “Its no like I’ve been driving a real car for along time!” He breathed in deeply, trying to vent his anger. He knew she was trying, that it was her first time, but it was only a car, it wasn’t that hard. “Okay, put it in drive, and with out stepping on the gas coast it off the curb.” “Okay.” She said meekly doing everything he told her to do. There was a slight bump as the back of the car came off the curb, and Serena hit the brakes, afraid she had missed up again. She looked over at Darien who was holding his face, a slight stream of read blood coming out between his fingers. “Oh no, Darien, what happened, are you okay?” She said with concern. “Yeah, yeah I’m fine.” He said as he wiped the blood away from his nose. “So you need to work on turning, that’s alright, it takes time.” He looked around the empty parking lot. “Okay lets work on your steering and braking.” “What do you want me to do, love?” “You’ll pull the car into the straightaway there, and just keep driving until you get to that tree, at the end. And make sure to keep it under twenty.” She took a deep breath, and pulled out into the straightaway. It wasn’t that bad, this part was easy, but she really need to work on turning and backing up. She really wished Darien would trust her enough to let her work on that more. She took her foot slowly off the gas as she got closer to tree. She glanced over to Darien, who was nodding in agreement. She smiled, happy with herself that she was doing the right thing. And with that smile crossing her face she slowly placed her foot on the brake, giving it a little pressure until the car stopped beside the tree. “Perfect.” Darien said in a hysteric voice. “Serena, that was perfect.” She turned to look at him the smile on her face growing. “Thanks, I wasn’t sure I could do.” “You can do anything you put your mind too.” He said looking at her with a smile. “Now, lets try that turn again. I don’t have to explain it again, do I?” “Right!” She said excitedly. She slowly let her foot off the brake, putting a little pressure on the gas moving a few feet forward then slowly turning the wheel till she was facing the way she had just coming. She took a breath. *Come on Serena girl, you can do this. Darien isn’t as bad as Haruka was.* “Come on Dumpling Head!” Haruka screamed from the passenger side of her car. “Do you want to learn are not?” Serena stood outside the car looking into it, her whole body was shaking, she’d never been in the driver’s side before. She sighed stepping into the car, and closing the door. “Good, you took forever, but good.” Haruka said with a sarcastic smile. “Now put your foot on the brake and adjust everything you need to adjust.” Serena nodded, putting her foot on the brake. She adjusted her mirrors and put on her seatbelt. She sighed and looked over at Haruka, who just kept looking forward an annoyed look on her face. “If you’re done, take the parking brake off, put it in drive and lets go.” Serena sighed, taking the lever for the parking brake down, and putting the car into gear. The car was filled with a terrorable sound, Serena felt Haruka slam her hand down on hers. “You must hold down the clutch before you shift gears.” The rest of the day was fighting, all Haruka did was yell at her for everything. It ended finally when Haruka pulled up in front of Serena’s house screaming at her to get out. “Serena, slow down a little, okay good, now hand over hand as you turn the, Serena that’s great. Okay now straighten out before putting the gas on. Okay that’s good, not to much gas, okay now slowly make the other turn. Serena Stop the car!” Serena slowly brought the car to a stop, looking over at Darien confused. “What did I do? I thought I was doing good.” Darien smiled at her. “You were, now it’s time for you to go home.” “What! I don’t want to go, I’m not done yet.” “I know now come on, put the car in gear and drive yourself home.” She smiled, she couldn’t believe he was letting her do this. The day was ending, the sun setting over the city, and a very happy young woman sat outside her home leaning on her boyfriend’s car. “I did good, right.” “Yeah you were alright.” He said with a sigh. She looked over at him, punching him in the arm slightly. “Hey, mister I did really good!” He laughed looking over at her. “Your right you did. So this means I don’t have to drive you everywhere now right?” “You’re so mean!” The End Okay this is the first light story I’ve ever read.
