For anyone who has seen the S series, they know that Sailormoon gave the Sacred Cup/Holy Grail to Professor Tomoe so he could give it to Hotaru. Mistress 9 was actually poising as Hotaru to trick Sailormoon. Sailormoon was critized by Uranus and Neptune for risking the world to save Hotaru. Many people on the web say this was one of the stupidest things she had ever done. But was it really?

Sailormoon knew Hotaru was Sailorsaturn, the soldier of destruction. She knew that the Outers said if Saturn awakened the world would be destroyed and that she had to be killed. But she believed that no one had to be sacrificed.

Look at it like this: Sailormoon was looking at two different views. One as the leader of the senshi. Could she really allow as sailor senshi, the same as her, to be killed? Second, as Chibi-Usa's future mother. How do you think she would have felt knowing she let Chibi-Usa's friend be killed?

Let's imagine for a minute that Sailormoon had let Saturn be killed. She might have never gotten her Eternal form, since it was the power of everyone that gave her the form first. The timeline would have been distorted.
